improving vodafone broadband signal to notebook with built-in modem?

hey guys, am asking on behalf of my employer, hoping someone round here can help (have tried browsing thru the last 10 or so pages without luck), currently when he is located in the marlborough sounds, with a Lenovo T61 notebook with built-in vodafone modem, he gets a very poor signal. as it isn't a plug-in card, or run from a phone, theres no way to stick a bigger aerial on it. is there any other way he can improve the signal he recieves, perhaps an antenna he can attach to the house or similar that boosts the signal? uses GPRS and not 3G.

Yeah my bad, didnt read it properly Ok so its a 900mhz device using GPRS. I can source a 900mhz booster which can use an induction pad to send the boosted signal to the internal antenna if you know where that is located on the body of the laptop. If that is not going to do the job i may be able to access a short range wireless booster for a desk top which will boost a vodafone handset and data connection. I will check it out and repost if i can find one. You do know that owning or using any sort of unauthorised mini-repeater is illegal, and you can be fined up to $30K for individuals or $200K for companies if it causes any sort of network interference. Section 103 of the Radio Communications Act I believe.

These are wilson units which Vodafone promote on their website, the vehicle wireless system may not yet be available on vodafone, it is on Telecom.
