Topic # 66796 23-Aug-2010 19:30 Send private message

Hi,

I have a couple of questions for either the VF folks here, or anyone else who knows the answer to these questions. Here goes...

My girlfriend's VF contract has just expired. She has an iPhone 3G. If she was to go onto the $80 24 month iPhone plan then:

1) would she be eligible for the iPhone 4 subsidy?

If so, then

2) would she have to put that iPhone 4 on the new plan she signs up to?

The reason I am asking is this could be a cheaper way for me to upgrade my iPhone 3GS which is on a VF corporate plan. If possible, she would want to keep here current SIM on here existing 3G, and I'd like to switch my corporate plan and number onto the new micro SIM.

I can't see why this would not be possible, but you can never be sure with these things!

Should be ok.

You're allowed to resign from 6 months till your contracts end and she'll have to purchase when she resigns but you can put in your sim card after they activate it for you. If she resigns and buys the iPhone subsidized, you'll be able to have the iPhone 4 providing she doesn't mind!
You just have to pay and extra $30 to get a micro-sim for your number.
Vodafone couldn't tell the difference.

Huh? Who said anything about anyone resigning anything? All I want to know if the subsidized iPhone purchase has to go on the plan it was purchased under, or could another phone go on that plan instead and subsidy retained.

Not too sure but I think you have to resign the plan for another two years to get the subsidy, but to your question yes you can get use a different phone on the plan and use the subsidized iPhone 4 on another micro sim.

Ha ha, sorry mate. I think you are meaning re-sign as in sign up again, yet I am thinking resign as in terminating.

Isn't English a wonderful language...

"cancel the contract" might be easier :)

Ha ha. I have this covered three ways:

1) she's not interested in forking out $699 for a new phone
2) she's not fussed on getting new technology
3) she's not going anywhere near the phone when we buy it

I should be ok...

I think no 3 is the key one.  Most girls are not fussed on the technology but once they see the phone....

I reckon if you swapped hers with your 3GS she wouldn't notice the difference.
Or you could just give to her.
