richms: Could be, I have the phone on UMTS only since GSM buzz is annoying coming thru on things all the time.

In anycase it didnt come back till I did another network scan and chose vodafone. Left the other one sitting for ages just showing nothing till I did a manual scan again and it was back to full.

Yes this was part of planned work on the 3G network at 1am

Can anyone please help me - I'm not sure if this is related to the issue or not

Yesterday my husband's phone in central Akld CBD and today (Tuesday) mine in Victoria St West - HTC Magic - full battery at 6am - almost no use, in fact I didn't use my phone at all today except to check for missed calls twice as it was on silent - battery was dead at 2pm, less than 15% needing immediate charging.

Mine shows usage as Display 32% which is around normal as I have a display hold on app for when phone is in use, Android System 26%, Android OS 14% and others. I have GPS turned off, only switch it on when needed so it's pretty basic setup.

Any ideas why Android System suddenly chewed up battery charge? Thanks

Multitasking?

Maybe the reception is crap or stretched?

Still having issues.... Texts just came through from Monday morning and lots of stalls. Ellerslie / abbots way area, cell tower intermittently goes to zero signal for 30 secs or so and lots of stalling texts.

Data session time outs around Auckland too. Different phones different areas.

Doesnt seem like voda has done a thing to me??

Like I said, didn't use phone except to check for messages, missed calls - once at 10am when I noticed battery was 1/4 down, then at 2pm when it was almost dead. As a busy fitness trainer I have phone on silent some days. Other times I'm on twitter, text, phone, gmail and more and never run battery flat.

Maybe reception was bad? New Telecom bldg open across the road but I can't see how that would impact on Vodafone reception. Will be hoping it doesn't happen tomorrow and taking USB cable to work just in case. (charger plugged in at home)

Please create another discussion in our Android forum as this is probably not related to the problems discussed in this thread.

Vodafone NZ and NSN have worked on this issue 24/7 also I have posted the fix across New Zealand will not be completed until this Thursday Morning.

Were the SMS on-net or off-net? The current issue would not cause a big delay nothing like 24 hours. PM me the examples and I will take a look a the SMSR logs

Coverage going to Zero for 30 seconds will not be related to to this issue either as Steve has spoken about the phone will always show full coverage

Thanks John

I guess that the software update was just applied here in Nelson. My phone just lost all signal for about 15 min. Now at 2-3 bars usually at 4-5 but it's slowly getting higher

Had a bad one at albany yesterday afternoon about 3.15pm  (Mercari way, right next to the vodafone/pizza hut stores as well) tried to send text and it would not send, tried to access google.com and nothing no 3g, no 2g, turned phone into airport mode then back out, did not connect back to network at all (waited about 5 mins) rebooted phone, waited for about 2 mins before it found the network again.

 Using a vodafone google nexus

The issue you had is not related to the issue spoken about in this thread as it did not impact the 2G network and on 3G coverage was not lost on the handset

I've experienced the missed calls/delayed txts problem for a month or two on and off - I'm only a very light cellphone user, but most days normally have a couple of google calendar txt notifications arrive, which are sometimes hours late (I had put it down to problems at googles end, until I saw this thread).

Today I missed a call at 3:53pm, and a couple of txts (unknown send time, but would have been after 12:50pm). At 5:57pm the txts came in all at once, as well as the Who Called message.
I was in Auckland CBD the whole time with reasonable reception, all communications were vf-vf.

Also had an incoming call cut off after a few minutes, at ~6:03pm (although haven't confirmed it wasn't the other persons phone out of battery or something)

I have had the browser on my 2730 say connection unavailable when it had signal twice today. Never seen it before. The G in a box icon was showing at the top, no idea what happened but it worked again when I tried again.
