I'm beginning to hope that the mainstream media pick up on this discussion. Campbell Live would have a field day with it.

Yesterday when I saw sbiddles post it made sense why I was missing calls within good coverage, and now it makes sense why I was having so many issues trying to connect a call yesterday afternoon.

It was a bit of a crisis situation for one of my customers (a Hospital) and we were having massive issues trying to connect calls, going to point this out to my boss on Monday and suggest we get some XT phones for backup in these time critical situations.

How would making fun of a Vodafone employee contribute in a positive way to fixing this issue? John isn't to blame for the problem, and mocking somebody who spends a lot of time helping others is certainly a good way to annoy them, as we have seen recently.

The only people that need mocking at vodafone are those who have instructed the customer service people to refuse to log tickets for this problem. That is what will be directly blocking faults like this from getting to the people that can sort them out.

2100Mhz is not 'old technology' and has nothing to do with the problem here. The iPhone also has nothing to do with the problem and neither does the 4.1 software. It would be appreciated if you could keep this thread on topic.

Maybe not - But running 2 Iphone's side by side on different firmware, 1 stalls and one doesn't?!?

Maybe coincidence or maybe your ego is blocking my cell reception.

For Iphone users regardless Vodafone have already admitted to a problem with the firmware and hopefully 4.2 resolves the issues for Iphone users.

Actually I think you are right, my iPhone's 3G icon was happy chappy until I upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1, now I hardly see the 3G icon at all! Just the small circle (most of the time).
You say Vodafone have admitted to the problem???

Good conversation start Steve.

I've had poor performance on Voda for a few years now, and I've blogged about it before at http://www.geekzone.co.nz/antoniosk/7185 and http://www.geekzone.co.nz/antoniosk/7034.

My E65 - brilliant phone, wish Nokia would update it - flicks between GSM and WCDMA if you look at it sideways. Around the university, Bolton St and Railway station I get interference - audible to callers - on the GSM network.

I get frequent packet stops on the Blackberry service - requiring a device restart. But like Mr Grant T, I have being using wifi on my widgets and it works brilliantly. A mobile carrier service is passe I find... handy but no longer a must-have. But for work, I'd have a my prepays in there so fast for the occasional time I need to make a truly mobile call (as opposed to being lazy and using mobile from my fixed environ)... I think the mobile carriers days are truly at threat!

Really good idea, mock the people that help out... Even if it is a joke, not sure a open forum is the right place for it.

This is not the place to make fun of anyone.

Yeah been having problems on my phone too. 2 Degrees seems to be all fine. It's kind of a shame since I have been a Vodafone Customer since 2001 & now all the sudden their network is not performing at it's best.

At least the whole thing isn't killing itself like some un-named network at the start of the year. You can still use it.

At first I thought it had to do with the Christchurch Earthquake but the problems are still happening here in Christchurch.

Had an incredibly poor data service on vodafone today between 5pm-6pmish.

Starting with no web access and then extending to twitter, and finally onto delayed txt messages and no email access until it finally cleared. This really is annoyin and it wont be long now before I maybe change to Telecoms network.

Unrelated, but I note Vodafone say I have used 25mb of my 50mb. My phone says otherwise at 13.9mb. So something strange going on with data usage reporting also.

No stalling issues today other than the long standing one at the corner of khyberpass and park road outside the old eastern hifi and around the corner.

Is it APN related since I am on the slingshot one? I remember when I was on VF with the n97 from tech that internet would often give me problems from time to time.

I've noticed this too since leaving my data connection on 24/7. This morning I received a bulk load of texts at 10:57 from folk who had tried to contact me last night and early in the morning, some of the txts mentionedIi had missed calls however my phone never rang....
