sbiddle: I know there has been very little said on behalf of Vodafone but I've personally spent a lot of time working with them on this issue and I know for a fact it's being worked on by those at the highest level.

VibePlus: I will log a fault next time I have more than one text failure to send or can't get data connection or it fails etc.

As an account customer but only a casual user of my phone (HTC Magic which gets used more when on holiday or away from laptop than on regular work days) I'd taken the problem to be my phone - and it was annoying the life out of me as when I need it to work - I really need it to work.

I think many people have blamed their phones and also allowed for the occaisional data failure.

It does seem that logging a fault requires time and determination
and if my ongoing experience with my home internet provider (not Vodafone) is any example of how one gets pushed aside I will wait for a day when I am truely exasperated and will then refuse to be fobbed off.

Hoping there's enough info in this and other forums for Vodafone to take notice - or are they just too stubborn to take notice of social media and always have to do it the - log a fault so we can then decide to do something or simply ignore you - way?

Quoted for truth. I logged a fault and it required a lot of determination. At first the lady on the phone wanted to log it as a coverage issue even though I repeatedly told her that I have had the same problems in four different cities throughout the North Island. She then tried to fob me off by saying that because my phone is parallel imported they won't help me. Had to mention geekzone and captaincrunch to get her to give me an INC number. was head banging on the wall frustrating.

I have the same issues as everyone else and got off my backside today and tried to log a fault call.

So, my data drops, my txt sending stalls, people get my voicemail without my phone ringing, txts come late, sloooooow data connection, etc. Probably notice it about four times per day on average. But could be more. Push mail fails reasonably frequently.

Resetting the phone (ip4) seems to fix it.

I tried to log a call through the website. Fail. Told me something was wrong with my entry and then refused to do anything else.

I called 777 and got a lady who was totally confused. She tried to reset my voicemail (which I just stopped her doing in time) and told me to reset my phone. I pointed out that I was tired of resetting the phone and wanted to know if there was an issue with the network. Long story short, I get shuffled off to another 0800 number. What is it about Vodafone? There is the 777, an 0800 technical number they wanted me to ring, and if that didnt work an iphone helpdesk number as well. Seamless customer service zero.

The tech called me by another name, nice touch, and told me that I had to take my sim and phone into a vodafone shop to see if they were working. I told him I wouldn’t, it was clear there was an issue with the network and all I wanted to do was log a call as such, figuring if everyone does then they have to listen right?

Not a fault with the network he says, a fault with all iphone 4′s. Oh I said, then send me a new phone please. Can’t do that, it’s Apple’s fault (or words to that affect). I bought it from you, I pointed out, so send me one that works, I don’t have time to go to a shop and swap things around.

Handily, at that point, the call dropped (can I get a lol). He rang me back and I logged a complaint.

It seems clear that Vodafone are not at all willing to admit anything is wrong so I am going to go down the getting a credit back on my account route. If I get substandard service, I should pay less, right?

Yes but CaptainCrunch, posting with an official Vodafone tag, has asked for more people to log the issue. Seems like that's all iapperly was attempting to do - with more than a little difficulty it would appear!

You might want to be a little more specific about which thread... There are a few.

Anyway, my experience is that they won't.

Linuxluver: 16:00 on Nov 1st.

My Samsung Galaxy S just spent some period unable to send any txts. North Shore, Rosedale area east of the motorway. I kept re-trying and at 4pm the txts were sent. i didn't re-boot or otherwise (knowingly) alter the state of the phone.

We did find an issue with the cell site you were on today, thanks for posting, we've rectified the issue, please let me know if you have anymore issues.

Cheers
Matt

WTF?

anyway...

I think the data issues are more noticable on iPhones because it will actually tell you that it cannot activate data network or something to that effect.

whats the best phone number to log calls on, to let VFNZ aware of the issue so they can track through to resolution?

I've had my Windows Phone 7 for a week now and wondered WTF do I have another buggy mobile OS, heaps of issues with SMS not sending, losing data connections several times a day until toggle flight mode on an off etc

sounds like this is not just happening to my on my shiny new WP7

I called 777 but they will put you off to a technical number pretty quickly. Didn't write down the 0800 number sorry.

The best number to call is 0800 921 021 to log a technical ticket.

I'm thinking it might just be easier to change all my services across to Telecom.

You pay a bit more on Telecom, and I've not had the issues with my phone when I drop my telecom prepaid sim into it.

I was thinking, maybe the issue is the actual iphone 4 - I do recall the antenna problems they have had.

I wonder if the media are aware of this?

If it is a network issue, surely it is a biggie.

I think I'm more clever And lucky than most people here. I use a XT sim on my iPhone 4, and a Vodafone micro sim on my MiFi (micro sim does fit in that MiFi). So I don't have as many problem as most people here. If I turn on push notification, the data stalls much more frequently on MiFi. The data stalled 3 times already today. My MiFi is always on 24/7. Can't be bothered to turn it off everyday. And I can't be bothered to report t to 777, as it's a waste of my precious time. I'm always busy during the day. It does require a pot of determination to ring 777 and at least 30 minutes involved. Plus the frustration in talking to a csr

So don't keep us in suspense JohnR and others, is this problem fixed?

From reading this thread, it looks like another Geekzone success story - and a good reason why big companies should let their staff participate in these places.

Any technical tidbits?
