I would say many many SIMs around the world have been cut down to micro SIM size

Cutting the SIM down in size is 100% up to you not Vodafone

I was going to try it but I ended up getting a free one from Telecom anyway when I brought my 4S.
If you're willing to try cut it down, practice on some old sims first. Then try it on your main one. Worst comes to worse, you end up buying a replacement micro-sim, weather you decide to cut it down or not.

Good luck :D

Yes I cut one up-not a problem if you are careful.
You can get little machines that can do it for you

When I first got my iphone the Telecom store had a cutter which punched out the sim. This was useful as I am able to still use the full sim in other phones as well.

i have a tool that cuts the sim card for you. works great, but then again, you could just go into your cell phone company and ask for a micro sim (2degrees cost like 5$) and transfer your number onto that!

I've done it about 5 times with a 100% no break rate. a bit of common sense

- position the metal bit well in your cutting where it needs to end up
- you can always cut 1mm smaller later but you can't make it bigger
- sharp scissors

i borrowed a friends micro-sim and positioned the two cards so the markings are inline (three markings on chip left from phone) then with a pen and scissors i marked the cut and kah-boom hehe
