Vodafone not wanting to be left out after yesterday's Telecom announcement of a LTE trial sent out this today:

Vodafone now offers the largest range of Dual Carrier (DC) capable devices in New Zealand, enabling even more Kiwis to take advantage of its high speed DC-HSPA network – available right now in parts of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

This growing portfolio of smartphones, tablets and mobile broadband devices supports 42Mbps technology, which delivers dramatically improved speeds for customers using compatible devices.  The enhanced product range includes Samsung GALAXY Note II (Dual Carrier), Samsung GALAXY S III (Dual Carrier), iPhone 5, iPad mini and fourth generation iPad, Nokia Lumia 820*, Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi R208 and Vodafone Vodem Stick K4605.

Todd Hardie, General Manager of Channel and Terminals, says Vodafone is investing widely in 42Mbps technology and by offering a strong DC capable device line-up, more customers can enjoy the benefits of its high speed mobile network.

“Customers demand the best experience from their mobile network.  For Vodafone, this means continually investing in our network to make sure our customers can confidently connect to the information and people that matter to them.

“We’re the only carrier to offer such an extensive range of DC capable products, which take advantage of our high speed DC-HSPA network,” Todd continues.  “Whether it’s watching what your friends are up to on Facebook, downloading files from email, or watching YouTube clips, with a DC device on Vodafone’s DC network, you can do it even faster.”

Vodafone is extending its use of 42Mbps technology from 19% of its network today to more than 50% by March 2013.  All of Auckland and more of Christchurch will be upgraded by Christmas, with Wellington’s upgrade completed by March 2013.

Do you know how much it is to buy outright? It's not listed on the online shop.

Even with my "normal" Note II I was hitting 12-15Mb/s last night around eastern Auckland suburbs.
