It seems sad that Woosh now seem to be getting more serious about barring ex-trademe modems.

I have 4 of them, and that was mainly just to get lowspeed internet into places that using mobile data was too expensive, and had woosh coverage.

Thinking if its worth complaining to woosh and asking them why they barred these modems, or just saying buggerit and binning the lot of them and moving to voda/tnz/2deg prepaid...

I think i'll go for the latter.

Silly silly way to run a failing company.  Kick off the customers who did still want to be on the network.

Honestly Im surprised Woosh is still in business with the way they treat customers... when they bought QSI, they ran it into the ground, making the service unusable until everyone left.
Found a complaint letter I sent to them years ago... about 5 pages long. Didnt hear a word back from them :-p

remember my woosh modem smash a thons? Was a good way to get what I thought of their service off my head.

Woosh really must have really poor logistics too, i still have 10 of the p1d plastic modems, 15 or so p1c metal modems, 1 walkerwireless original trial modem, 5 white paddle antennas, two black square antennas, three pc cards and two of their older innomedia voip boxes as well as numerous bits of cabling and junk. All found in rubbish bins bar one of the woosh viop boxes i paid 50c for at the rubbbish tip scavengers shop half price everything day (was marked $1).

I hope that by barring modems that people actually paid for back in the day, they will finally go belly up and let a company that can actually comprehend that customers pay the bills do something useful with the woosh towers such as wimax!

I tried woosh a few years ago, they promised I could get service in Remura, couldn't without 15 foot of cable and a booster aerial, was not worried as I was moving to mission bay and they promised I could get service there as well.

I could but by their own logs it was dropping out and reconnecting 30 times a hour. I tried to return it all but they made me wait till my contract expired. I then returned it on the 1st of the month and they made me pay for the whole of THAT month as well because I returned it on the first.

They then called up a year later demanding the modem back I returned when I left and saying I had been sent to debt collectors.

I still strike people which are on it, and the biggest complaint is it's slow.

To be fair I rang up for a password reset for a client last week and they answered the phone within 15 minutes.

I don't have the modems anymore, I went to have a look last night after posting that and the box had got wet whilst in storage (I've just moved into a new huge place so am soorting and turfing mood) so out they went into the trash this morning along with a couple of old computers that got saturated, oh well.

I kept only one paddle antenna as this may actually come in handy at some point.

15 min hold time is pretty good for Woosh, it used to be over an hour.
