Hi all
I am considering going to naked BB and use voip for all our lines. ATM we still have one land-line.
Would anyone be able to elaborate what to do with the line maintenance? Would home contents insurance pick that up? Any other suggestions?
Snap seem to have a reasonable package for NBB?

Regards

if you dont have wiring maintanance you call a data comms tech when your internal wiring fails. Not sure why you would want insurance. Its not like you can put a claim in if one of your power sockets or lightswitches needs replacing.

I thought that we have to maintain the line(in case of any faults) from the gate, approx.200m?

Unlike the Power networks - The Demarcation point between the external network (network company chorus's) and our house wireing (Yours and your Providers) is the External Test Point (ETP) or Point of Entry (POE) on the side of your house - Even if you have naked BB you pay (through your provider) line rental which covers maintainence of your line up to the ETP

Thanks for that, very clear.
Just wonder, is anyone else here on voip only phone system(plus mobile of course)? I'm just a bit shy of making the final jump!

Thousands of people are on VoIP only systems, you won't notice a difference in your phone calls. When you sign up with Snap do yourself a favour and get the Fritzbox while you are at it. The telephony platform in it is not seen on any other residential router. The other massive bonus is the built in DECT base station - your DECT phones connect directly to the Fritz. Plus you can get the FritzFon App for iPhone and Android for an integrated soft phone solution.

+1. I've been on snap naked VDSL + 2talk VOIP for quite a while now and couldn't be happier with the performance of both. And I know many other people have similar setups on these very forums. Fritzbox is well worth it too.

BTW, if you want to test drive voip, just sign up for a 2talk free account (or even just their $10 account) for a month and give it a try on your mobile. Though it''s even better with the fritzbox!

Thanks
I have one line with 2talk for a few years(good 98% of the time) and have the Fritzbox! 7270 for approx the last 2 years. FB has been very reliable.
All it is, I'm just shy of cutting off T..com?

Also running naked DSL and 2talk. Would never go back either. You already have 2talk so you are halfway there.

Have been on Xnet VOIP for 4.5 years. Not many problems at all. You get a lot of extra services than a POT line at no extra charge. Snap as naked broadband. In the off chance that broadband is offline or unit has lost power then VOIP calls are forwarded to my mobile. So I am still able to receive calls.
