Anyone know if these are compatable or not? Doesn't seem to be a mention of those here yet.

I can't get it to connect to internet in set up. Tried turning everything off and on again in sequence. Checked connections. Modem is motorola Surfboard SB5101.

Any suggestions to get thing working would be great thanks. Modem works fine when wired to laptop.

I'm not sure if there's a standard "how to set up your router on cable network" thread so I'll post the easiest way to help you out I can.

 

#1: Ensure the Ethernet adaptor in your computer (LAN Connection) has it's IP address and DNS servers Under TCP/Ip Config set to automatically assign.

 

#2: Plug the router into the modem and your computer as is standard (modem into internet port, laptop into any of the free LAN ports).

 

#3: Access the router configuration page through the router. This link below may help you do that.

A tip would be standardly to go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser.

 

#4: Find the configuration for internet and ensure the connection type is set to static. You will likely need to input a series of info about your connection into the following options such as IP Address, Subnet Mask(always 255.255.255.0) and default gateway (your IP address but the last digit changed to a 1). Then you'll need to enter TelstraClears DNS server settings for cable which are found all on this page here: https://telstraclear.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1306

Edit: As far as I can see in the specifications of the router, it looks capable of working on our cable network.
