Graemedh: Hi Can anyone help. We have had our Tbox for a couple of weeks now. the problem we are having is the continual freezing of the picture  when just watching normal channels and especially when changing channels. Really annoying whren you are watching a movie!! My wife is gettong particularly annoyed with this and may tell me to get the old box back soon. I rang Telstra and was told it would be corrected in the next software update which was supposed to happen last week but I am still having problems and believe the update has been installed

Got it installed on Sat

Have the same problem.  Lets hope they fix it soon.  This on top of channel change lag worse then digital (Bring Back the Analogue Box) and very jolty in fast forward etc, it's not a great experience.

Had our T-Box for a week now, and generally it is pretty good - pleased with the picture quality. But this freezing is really annoying the Commander-in-Chief. I suspect if there is not a fix soonish (or word of a fix - even acknowledgement that it is a problem may suffice for a short time) that TC may be loosing one of its foundation customers. Even we have our limit on patience!

Yes happening to me too now.  Very disappointing.   I emailed TC support and they replied yesterday "With regards to the freezing issue, this is still an ongoing issue, and is still with our Broadcast team and T-Box vendors. They will be releasing another code within the next couple of weeks that should help alleviate these freezing issues".

And I can confirm the above. Just needs to be tested by our team to confirm it's fixed.

We have the same problems:

The picture freezes for short periods of time.
The picture breaks into pixels and freezes for short periods of time.

Currently the EPG guide has lost C4 program data.  Resetting everything has not resolved this problem...

While I have not had any EPG issues at all (well I suppose it could be a bit more responsive but otherwise nothing) I have heard of others who have, so maybe there are a couple of different issues lurking in the system.  Also I note that I've seen about 4 failed recordings turn up.  No idea why, it's usually for stuff set to record in the small hours of the morning.

I'm sure that these issues are not helping TC ramp up the customer base, and it will be distracting them from enhancing services such as adding in the ability to set recording via the web (as you can do with MySky).  If the issues are not resolved sooner rather than later then TC should be considering some sort of compensation (e.g. some free movies or a free month or something - I feel a lot like a beta tester which is amusing, given that they did have a lot of testing before launch.

Same here - getting frustrated with the glitches when changing to a new channel and it appears to have been getting worse over the past week with more random glitches both on live shows and recorded shows.  WAF is dropping by the day.

Come on TelstraClear - roll out a fix already!

One other glitch I have noticed with the T-Box (have seen it perhaps 3 times in the last 2 weeks) is the box occasionally simply refusing to do anything when we go to turn it on after a period of it being off.  Is anyone else getting these?

In these instances turning it on seems to find it in a frozen state where there is no signal to the TV (the TV tells me there is no signal) it is unresponsive to any command (either remote or the buttons on the from). Typically when you power on in this situation it seems to start then just stick with the blue light on and nothing happens thereafter when you try to turn it off. I have had to resort to unplugging it from the power a number of times to try to get it to reset.

Eventually it seemed to reconnect and begin working again but it took 10 minutes of fiddling with the power. I have no idea if this is the same source issue as the stuttering and freezing picture one (it seems different in nature to me as it lasts longer than the freezing picture issue - i.e. if I did not disconnect the power I expect it would still be frozen).

Ruscolli: just out of interest can you check the power supply plugged into your tbox and report back the brand name plugged into it?

Thanks.

It claims to be a APD (Asian Power Devices) DA-42112 (it's what came with the T-Box).  However, just incase I was not clear, there is clearly still power to the T-BOX when this happens - the blue light is on, it's just unresponsive and not delivering a signal.

cheers

Yes, seen that once, ~3 days ago (but I watch little TV so may have been other times).  Exactly as you described it in later post.  Blue light showing, but unit unresponsive - eventually fired up ~5mins later after turning on & off a couple of times.

I wish freezing was the only issue we had!

Our unit froze and crashed today, it required the standard 3x daily reboot from the wall switch, except this time the unit decided it wasn't going to go anymore - I got the screen that reads "Please enter your Master PIN!"

So I called testra, and after following the instructions of pulling out wires in a particular order and reinserting them back, I get a black screen with "updating, please wait..."

The guy on the phone sounded confused as to why the screen was black while it was updating but assured me it "must" be part of the reboot.

Several hours later I decided to call back - repeat above wire pulling, repeat black screen, told it would be fine again.

Several hours later I decided to call back..... AGAIN - finally some one tells me its not normal and my T-Box requires a technician - the earliest is tuesday... today is SAT, thats 4 days with no TV, the kids are going to kill me, given we have only had this peice of sh*t for 2 weeks!

Telstra, I have wasted so many hours on this box, that your $15 a month for 24 months upgrade fee doesn't even cover the amount of time I have to take off work for your tech's.

We had our PVR installed on Tuesday, continual freezing issues, shutting itself down issues, not recording properly and "connection" issues.

It is seriously ridiculous. As with others we have been waiting loyalling for this unit (and not switched to mysky).

I have emailed through a formal complaint today and i am requesting that we are not charged for services as they are not fulfilling the obligations of their contract with us. More people should start to question this service and they will have to do something about it, instead of the "yes we are doing an upgrade" and fobbing people off.
