I think he meant sequentially.  The T-box doesn't cope too well with those sometimes.  It is definitely something that could be dramatically improved.   If shows are back to back it should just finish one and start the other and ignore the buffer given the end of the previous show will be on the start of the next recording anyway but sometimes it causes a schedule conflict when there really is no conflict... or wouldn't be if the T-box dealt with the situation better.

Hence the winky.  And yes, as a MySKy user I agree it does this prety well.   Can be a trap for young players though.  When it looks like a recording has missed the end of a show, but you'll find it at the beginning of the next recording.

This issue may well have been fixed in the latest firmware update. Who knows? With Telstra's asinine policy of not having any accompanying release notes...

Davos, "With Telstra's asinine policy of not having any accompanying release notes..."  I, too find this policy ridiculous, unless they are aware of problems they hoped to solve with the update, and they now know they have NOT solved, and they are just waiting to see if these problems get picked up by any of us users.  M$ clearly doesn't always get it all right in its updates, but at least it tells the consumer what it intended to do!  I've never heard of anything so silly as to update software and keep the "fixes" secret!!

I have to agree. It almost seems like Telstra believe that there are issues only if they admit to them publicly. I've never heard of another company not posting a list of issues that an update is meant to fix. I've also never come across a company that tell you after the fact that you've been updated.

Yeah I have got to admit that I don't get that either.  Gary's comment about it being proprietary is a bit weak.  Nearly all consumer product firmware updates are proprietary.   Telstraclear expect us to keep our TV firmware up to date.  When we do this we can find release notes for the firmware version.  The firmware for all makes and models of TV is proprietary... I really can't see the difference.

I've definitely had it happen properly on UKTV, with the T-Box. Ages ago, when Dr Who Confidential followed Dr Who, I recorded them both on series link, with 5 minute padding. I found that at the scheduled end time, the first recording stopped and the second one started. No overlap. I never did try to schedule another channel to record across this junction, to see if the box could cope with what it ordinarily would have seen as the need for three simultaneous recordings.

By the way, my T-Box hasn't crashed even once since the upgrade. It used to do it several times a week - so that's a big improvement.

Mine hasn't either. But it has only been about 6 days, so I am not getting too excited yet.

The 10-20 seconds it takes to go back to the EPG after a recording has finished is annoying though.

I used to DREAM of six days without a freeze. ;-)

Odd - haven't seen that. I do note that they've added a dialog box at the end of the recording where you have to hit OK now.

Perhaps we should start collating things that look new and form our own release notes Wink

I decided to cancel my TV upgrade, was worried I'd be stuck with the same issues others are having and to be fair Sky is pretty good, if it isn't broke, don't fix it :) Hope you all get sorted but without using Telstra I would recommend Sky even though it costs a little more.

ummm - maybe in not notifying of update fix is a way of "not disclosing" the problems for the pending Vodafone purchase.  "Pardon?, that was a general technical update, not bug fix's.  We have not been experiencing any technical difficulties with the T-Box service"

oh how cynical....

When I called up to cancel my T-box upgrade they asked for a reason, I said "The t-box has issues and the Sky box is really stable" they then said "The latest update fixes most of the issues but we understand" lol!
