clivestart: Another report of recording the wrong stuff:
2 Mar 2012, 8:30pm, trying to record Doc Martin on TV1, got CCTV4 and some show I do not know.
2 Mar 2012, 9:30 pm, trying to record Single Father, got CCTV4 again.

Yes, 2 shows in a row recorded the same wrong channel. Sigh.

On a brighter note, the Phoenix won!

I guess it's OK until you have to explain to the wife or kids that you were really trying to record Scooby Doo and not naked volleyball..  Embarassed

clivestart: Sorry Robert, I couldn't understand your last question? I do have a battery UPS protecting all my multimedia equipment, but I had to do that. Are you actually asking if TC have UPS in their datacentres?

Yes, though they probably have routers and other equipment scattered all over the place and not in datacenters. I doubt these have UPS, or if so, only enough to run for 30 minutes or so. Probably only surge protection.

Ah yes. Imagine if the listing inthe planner said naked volleyball, but was actually the naked chef (which we may have actually wanted to record). Imagine if it actually hid the correct content behind a bogus name.

I wonder if that would be more or less frustrating?

Came across some interesting behaviour that might be useful (although only happened once so don't know if it will happen everytime)

TBox locked up when a programme finished and two programs that were on at the time were in failed state. My partner then deleted the two failed recordings and they suddenly seemed to start recording - I haven't checked the recordings to see what we got yet but thought I'd share it in case anyone else wants to give it a go / comment on whether they've seen it before...

I can provide evidence of the screensaver kicking in if that is of use to anybody.

Just thought I'd update my situation being a new, fully informed customer.

So far we've had the T-Box for nearly a month and haven't suffered any of the reported behaviors so I am pretty happy up to now (touchwood that hasn't jinxed me)

Looking forward to the enhancements to bring it more in line with MySky as there are definitely some areas for improvement, main difference that I can see is the sluggish performance when navigating the unit. Compared to MySky it's like it's on dial up!

I doubt you will see any enhancements any time soon.  The next couple of updates are likely to be for bug fixes.  As for the GUI performance, this has been updated already.  you should have seen how slow it was before that!

I've seen this and it is repeatable. It would seem the unit is unable to carry on recording a 'failed' recording until the file with the same name is deleted. It's a pain really as I've had the odd occassion where the box has crashed during a recording, and after the reboot I've been unable to carry on recording...

I have put up with the TBox problems for the last year but the icing on the cake is it appears I have been overcharged for the service for the last year i.e. $50 for the sky digital package instead of around $36. ARRGGGHHHHH, looking forward to them calling me back with their excuse on that one (if they ever call back).

Maybe not. The T-Box rental is $15, which makes it $15 more than the digital package using the basic digital STB (which means you are probably paying $15 to become incredibly frustrated). Currently TCL are offering free T-Box rental for 2 years on selected packages.

I had to reboot this morning, after getting ANOTHER "Not Subscribed" first. Planner, Guide, +/- channel buttons didn't do a thing except to show banners and NS padlock, and the Guide entries were all blacked out. Rebooted both modem and STB and it worked after that. Happens wayyyyyyyyy too often!

Nope this is just the 'digital tv' price for the T-box sky service. I haven't included the T-Box rental, that's charged separately, they were also charging me 30c extra for the sports/movies package.

The lady at the call centre was very helpful and acknowledged that there was an issue. She sent it on through to the credit dept who were supposed to contact me but as I expected haven't. looks like another frustrating hour on the phone is coming up for me.

Hi Teza. If you email me (button in the ribbon above this post) your account number and contact details I'll ask one of the team to look into this for you.

Cheers, Gary
