On a positive note, the menu navigation seems a bit quicker

And I concur with the other reports. On TV 1 the T-Box sound stays at 100%, but can be adjusted on other channels e.g. Vibe. The workaround for me is to simply have the T-Box audio set to 100%.

Just had a thought.. TV1 = HD, Vibe = SD? wonder if its HD related?

Gary,

Can you please explain what these mean...
  • A sub-rating image has been added (‘LS’)
  • Updating enabled for when the EPG changes and Series Linked programmes change (this is also updated in the Planner).
How do you use the updating function or is it automatic?

Regards
Kirk.

kharris: Hi Gary

I have a sony 40" LCD TV, I don't know the model at the moment, and it is directly connected to the t-box via hdmi.  I tried unplugging the hdmi cable and re-inserting but it made no difference.

I have never had hdmi issues with my TV before with the t-box.  i.e. the volume has always been fine before today.

Regards
Kirk.

Gary,

have just checked and the model is KDL-40CX520

Cheers
Kirk

Hi Gary,

What does "resolves the recording and playback behaviours that some users have reported" mean exactly?  Is the end-of-record-crash one of those things?

One change that's not in that list that I've noticed is that the arrow keys auto-repeat now in the EPG.

Hi BigBadaboom. Yes, the update has addressed the end of record issue. Auto-repeat was implemented in the 2.9.24 update.

Hi Kirk,

Ratings from SKy with 'LS' at the end are now displayed.

If a broadcaster changes their EPG data from one time to another the Series Link will update with the new time.

Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary,

something else I have noticed, when changing channels the banner now takes a lot longer to appear and does not refresh as quickly or at all when pressing the channel button more than once, so it is impossible to know what channel you are up to.

Cheers
Kirk

lanceanz: It is great to get this update, so thanks for all the work you and your colleagues have put into this.

Lance

Thanks Lance. As always, all feedback is welcome!

If your T-Box hasn't yet upgraded, please note that at one point during the upgrade the screen will go blank for a few minutes and the T-box will appear inactive. This is normal and the 'updating' icon will reappear.

Gary

Exactly how many minutes?  Coming up 10 for mine with black screen and no response from decoder.
Do I leave it and risk missing the scheduled programme recording *again* or reboot it and risk toasting it and missing the scheduled recording *again*?

Edit:
Ok, so that's now 35 mins and counting.  25 of those with black screen and unresponsive t-box.
Not impressed.

On a positive note the sub-titles are working great on channel 1 and 2.

Unlike others I'm not experiencing any volume problems (on any channel).

Saw your post on geekzone, so thought I would tell mention my issue.  I am on my second T-Box in 10 months of my 24 month plan, and now it is freezing form 15-30 seconds at a time and then showing the show for 10 sec; a real tease and driving my family of 6 crazy, especially my wife who has lost all her shows!!!  I did all the regular things like unplug it and the modem, plug in the modem 1st then the t box, etc.  All recordings are failing, and will not play either.  If this was a PC, I would say it is running at 100% cpu utilisation, and nothing else can run.  When I try to record a show, it completely locks up the T-Box, and then requires a reboot.  When I try to reboot it, it takes almost 30 min till I get a picture, and the stopping and starting begins again.  I called Telstra during the day from work to get another box ordered, but was told it would be 8 days till someone could come out.  They also stated that I had to be home to really diagnose the issue.  So when I got home, I called again, and got the message about the expected call wait was 44 min; what!!! Don’t they know everyone calls a night when they get home, and with a product like this shouldn’t there be more staff, come on now!  If I wasn’t mad enough that the box was failing, I am now insulted further by being told to keep a phone stuck in my ear for 44 min!  how about having an automated call system that gives me the option to have a call back when the next technical person is available? Surly this can’t be a new concept.    So now I have to wait another 6 days with the freezing, stopping & starting, 30-40 reboots, no recorded shows, and one very upset wife as I talked her into this T-Box.

I have all my services with Telstra, phone, mobile, broadband, and TV but I have to ask myself, is this product or service really worth it?  The cable picture quality is far superior to Sky, but if you can’t watch it, what does it matter.  I’ll wait for my third T-Box, but this is it, and next time this happens, I will really have to ask myself if the lower quality picture outweighs the staggeringly poor performance of the T-Box

Frustrated

Yay, an update to fix all of the issues that so many people have been having. I called home at midday and got the Home Commander to reboot the Tbox.
After getting home late, I thought a sit down watching a program with my darling wife would be nice, so on went the TV. Looks good so far, until I pushed the planner button. The screen went black and then the small live TV screen displayed in the top right of the screen, but that was all. There was no planner displaying, nothing but a black screen. I tried the favs - same thing. I tried the guide, and got the same thing. I tried the volume controls - well at least the volume changed, however there is no volume display. Neither is the channel displayed.
Oh F%$K. This is a monumental balls up

"I'm off to bed"  says my wife - obviously she's had enough.

I reboot the box and wait......

And try to see if the planner has come back. Nope - nothing! Looks like I'll be spending some quality time on the phone to the Telstra Clear help desk. And having an early night...

But before I do, I'll try another reboot. AFter all, that's all the help desk will ask me to do

Updating...  At least that bit displays on screen

Hooray - things look like they are working now.

These Tboxes exhibit some incredibly irrational behaviour. No issues with volume as mentioned by others.

One thing I've noticed - the selected program took longer to play then it used to after selecting it in the planner menu.  Maybe that's a one-off.

Iceni: Unlike others I'm not experiencing any volume problems (on any channel).

You won't notice the issue if you have the T-Box volume set at or near 100%, and you use your TV or audio system remote to control the loudness.
