There seems to be subtitles on TVONE and TV2.  Tune to one of them and press the 'Yellow' button on the remote.  Select Subtitles option.

Looking at the planner this morning noticed a failed recording from last night. My 11 year old daughter was the first one up and watching TV so I asked her if the TV was frozen this morning and she said it was so I asked if she rebooted it as it was now working but she said she just left it and it unfroze by itself after 5 minutes or so. Anyway I decided to check the reason for the failed recording expecting the usual "powered off" reason but instead I got something different - it said it failed due to a scheduling conflict. Now everything I recorded last night I only set up that night and at no stage did it warn me about a scheduling conflict because there was NO conflict - I recorded some shows on TV1 and some shows on 4. I'm pretty sure the T-Box is supposed to be able to record 2 channels but it seems along with the freezing issues mine can't even do this now. ARGH!!!!

Garfield69:
Iceni: Minor problem I’ve had for months:

When setting a recoding for a movie or a once off programme  pressing the record button on the remote shows a single record icon.

If the programme is part of a series, when pressing the record button a message comes up asking if you want to record the series or not.

The problem is that the series screen doesn’t always show when attempting to record a full series, it just goes straight to the single recording. This means  that the next part of the series is missed, or I need to make a note to record the next episode.   I estimate that the problem comes  up 25% of the time.

I don’t know if this is a problem with the T-Box software or Sky, and as I’ve said the problem is intermittent. Has anyone else seen this happen, and if so is there a work around?

When I raised this with TC in the distant past, it was explained to me that TC do not control the data that goes into the program guide, rather it is given to them by the various TV channel providers. As such, the latter do not always correctly load the key that identifies episodes as belonging to a series, and thus the TBOX does not generate the series-link prompt when you press the record button.
The curious thing is that when I talked with my neighbour with SKY about this, he has never come across this problem, so I remain uncertain that I was given a completely correct explanation. Frown

ADDENDUM:
I have found on those channels that broadcast a repeat of a series episodes during the week, then only one of the repeats (usually the last occurrence) will generate a series-link, the others just a single record.

After reading your reply to my message I rang my daughter ( has Sky) and asked if she ever had the series recording problem. She said that sometimes when recording a series from UKTV channel it will only record once, so it would appear that the answer you received from TC could be correct.

Personally, I never trust the T-box to record a series. I much prefer to just set the prog to record each time it is on manually..........probably saves a lot of frustration with missed recordings, methinks :-)

The series record is one of the main attractions of the T-Box for me. I would have a dozen or so series recording on the go,  couldn’t be bothered continually checking each and every one.

Some series links on TVNZ7 and BBC Knowledge also command the T-Box to record repeats. This action has caused some unexpected scheduling conflicts for me, and so I also often just repeat the recording events myself, on these two channels, instead of relying on a Series Link.

Yeah, I get that with Wednesday's FairGo on channel One. The series link for this also captures the repeat on Sunday. fortunately I don't have anything else recording at 4pm so its not been a problem thus far.

A bad weekend for our T-Box so alas I have to report that after weeks of it being better it is worse than ever. Froze up and a part recorded programme on Sunday night after the weird scheduling conflict problem that wasn't the night before. Also twice we have lost the volume - switched to Freeview and the volume was fine and switched back to T_box and the problem was fixed. I think the thing is to never feel optimistic that the T-Box is getting better as it will prove you wrong sooner or later.

My box froze again today. First recording shown as "part recorded" but was all there. Two recordings shown as FAILED so unwatchable.

I was simply going to add this instance to my previous "online" report dated 19th April. However, that report had status "Solved". I didn't receive an email saying it'd been updated, so either someone's forgotten or that's the way these reports will be treated. I submitted a new report. It takes significant time to write down the details off the Planner and to submit them as a new issue. I figure it's important that we do formally submit our ongoing problems, but it is a pain - almost as much as the box freezing.

Also, starting about a week ago, I've been getting periods of several seconds where the sound stops.

I'm having this issue since the update.

Where are you filing your reports?

I used the usual web page for submitting problems (as requested by Gary on page 73 of this thread): https://telstraclear.custhelp.com/app/residential/ask/p/383

I think this issue is the one he calls "stuttering", and is being worked on. Wouldn't hurt to report it though.

I was recording while watching TV3 at 7:10 tonight, and the screen went blank, while the record light stayed on.  Had to reboot at the end of the prog, and found it was Part recorded, failing from the time the TV went blank.  Previous recording also indicated Part Recorded, but was all there.  First time I have had to reboot since 10/4.  Annoyed that I missed that Campbelllive program, tho.

4 reboots and my system is still not working! I got home to find the Tbox had frozen. A simple reboot should fix it. Unfortunately not. I seem to be the only person on this forum who gets a display without any of the output from the Tbox. If I press the menu, planner or fav button, I get the little picture in the right of the screen, but no menu, or planner or list of channels.

I guess I should go and log a fault. Maybe I should let the kids at the site to log it - they're all very annoyed! They were looking forward to our weekly Mythbusters-before-bed session. Telstra Clear, the Tbox is an EPIC FAIL.

Well, I've checked my math several times and I think I'm ready to make the change!

Currently we're on a Telstra package (TV, Phone and 10Gb Internet) and we're paying about $180 per week.

Then on TV tonight I see Tesltra advertise Phone and Internet (whooping 40Gb!) for only $75 Plus 2 months free!

So I went onto SKy and priced their My Sky+ (extra capacity) using the same channel configuration as I currently have..

End result.... I pay $7 more!

Gonna tripple check my math, then making the change.

Gary, you'll need to offer me something smart (price wise) to stay with the T Box and its current short comings.

Cheers

Looks like Testra will get the last laugh - the devil is in the detail.

The $75 deal is only available to new clients, and isn't available to those serviced by their cable network.

So, just because i CAN have the T Box they will charge me more for my phone and internet than the guy that can't have the T Box - end result, the cost to jump to sky isn't practical.

Also, why do companies like these offer better deals to new clients than their existing loyal client base.

sigh
