TelstraClear’s network has been, and is, operating properly. The issue of customers experiencing problems loading some websites is outside our network. The problem is with the Content Delivery Network provider that those companies use to host their sites. These sites are also failing in other parts of the world.

We are providing technical assistance to the offshore Content Delivery Network provider to assist them to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

As the relationship is between the website owners and the Content Delivery Network provider we have no control over the fix for this. Affected customers may wish to contact the site administrators for sites they are having trouble reaching and alerting them of this issue.

It would also help us provide information to the offshore Content Delivery Network provider if you post here the sites that are not loading, the time you tried to access them and any page errors returned.

Thanks, Gary

It does seem TCL cable has a lot of these issues....and they are ongoing..and they always say its not their issue.

My question...do the other major ISP's also have these issues..as tbh I am getting tired of them and now have a cabinet being installed just a few houses away?

Also seems slow tonight

thats between Kapiti and auckland

Yes I have a problem like this with Telecom and 2 Degrees.  I click on a link and it goes to a blank page or in 2 Degrees land I get an error.  If I refresh the page it opens.

I don't know if it is the same problem though and it's not so bad that I bother complaining.

I haven't been able to access the iTunes store for a week, from my PC. Strangely my flatmates Mac can, and so can my iPod. I don't know if it's a network issue or a PC issue, but others on TC have reported not being able to access the iTunes store either.

If you're having specific issues please PM as much detail as you can (including your location and account number if you know it) and I'll pass it on the tech team so they can try and replicate what you're experiencing. It helps a lot. Thanks, Gary

Run iTunes on a PC. Click on app store.

Thanks. Will let the team know.

Update: this is also related to the problem with the offshore Content Delivery Network provider. We're pushing to have them fix it ASAP. As an Apple customer, you might want to let Apple know about the problem as well.

Hi again,

Techs here and at the offshore Content Delivery Network provider have made updates and changes that have resolved the problem. We have tested the sites we have been told about to confirm the resolution. If anyone continues to experience problems please let me know with as much detail as you can provide and I’ll pass it on.

Please note that the Content Delivery Network provider has in progress planned upgrades. We’ll be working with them to minimise any impact on our customers.

If you're having trouble with sites, please let me know with as much detail as possible so we can try and replicate the problem.

Thanks, Gary

I still can't access the iTunes store from my PC. I can download updates to apps on my iPod, but I can't see the store. I don't know if it's a network issue or an issue with my PC.

Can anyone else on TC Cable, with a Win7 PC, see the iTunes app store?

No problems with iTunes store here now.

What DNS are you using?  203.97.78.43 and 203.97.78.44 are the ones to use.

I'm using the same DNS.

It's probably something weird with my PC then. I'll have a look at it some time.

In all due respects, as much as I respect what you have provided to the forum I can't help but wonder that TelstraClear is avoiding the elephant in the room and that is that one can log onto the very same websites using ones XT Mobile (tethered to the laptop) and load those very sites and yet said sites fail on TelstraClear. Through some common sense and process of elimination, if the websites are loading for everyone else but those on TelstraClear then the fault sits with TelstraClear itself.

My guess would be a strange interaction between Telstraclear's transparent web proxy and amazon s3 (used as cdn for reddit.com).

Curiously didn't affect our Telstraclear fibre at work which doesn't go through the transparent web proxy.

My vote is to just remove the proxy altogether. If it can't work ok (and it's been giving out problems for the last year) then better not have it at all.

Alternatively, let customers opt out of using it. This wouldn't affect the vast majority of customers since a layman doesn't know what a proxy is, but it'd solve so many issues for us geeks :)
