Microsoft Windows 8 Preview Release is available for download. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/download Downloading the ISO as I write. Microsoft Windows 8 Preview Release is the final pre-release version of Windows 8 before the real version goes on sale. Still waiting for Internet Explorer 10 to be available on Win7, but that's another post.

Cool, I was quite impressed with the dual monitor support in the previous version(s), so it get's better. Way cool.

Can it be installed dual-boot on my existing lappie? MS download page implies not. Can't be arsed with a full rebuild

Well... that kind of sucks. Trust me to be the one to post the Win8 update and then have problems. The Windows 8 Release Preview seems to be getting overly picky on supported architecture ....and it hates me. I have a Pentium 4 3.2GHz dual thread processor with 3GB of memory. Microsoft Windows 8 Release Preview says..."NO!!!!" So, that's the end of my preview then. Odd really as Win8 worked fine on the last two releases on my P4 3.2GHz processor Will have a go on my Notebook using VirtualBox but it's not that same as having a discrete bootable Win8 OS.

Also, for some odd reason: Windows Media Center is not preinstalled in Windows 8 Release Preview. If you want to use Windows Media Center, you need to add it by following these steps: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.) Enter add features in the search box, and then tap or click Add features to Windows 8. Tap or click I already have a product key. Enter this product key: MBFBV-W3DP2-2MVKN-PJCQD-KKTF7 and then click Next. Select the checkbox to accept the license terms and then click Add features. Your PC will restart and Windows Media Center will now be on your PC and the tile will be pinned to the Start screen.

I've installed (and am now running) Windows 8 - but it refuses to take up all available space on my monitor! There's about an inch above & below between the visible screen and the bezel, and about 2" on the sides. MOST annoying. I've updated drivers, but can't figure out what else to try. :( Online Content Specialist @ Slingshot Not the official support person! Did you install the latest AMD catalyst drivers released just a day ago specially for Windows 8 release preview? I took a leap of faith and installed this on my netbook (Eee PC) (after running CP/DP in just a VM). One major problem I have come across is that natively netbooks have a screen resolution of 1024600. Annoyingly metro apps require a minimum 1024768 in order to work. Users of CP/DP Windows 8 found a registry hack in order to change the resolution and get apps to work. However, I think this was limited to Intel chipsets and I believe it no longer works in the Release Preview. I have downloaded/installed the latest Catalyst drivers (specifically released for the Release Preview) which doesn't help at all. This is extremely frustrating as the 'Metro Start' screen is pretty useless if I can't use any of the apps. Basically right now it's only use for me is to have a Desktop button and other buttons for my Programs. Does anyone have any sort of work around for this? Googling hasn't really helped and I'm hoping someone has come across the same problem and found a solution :)
