It's just started happening in Facebook games like Cityville.  It plays ok for awhile and then I get the lines across the screen.  It's happened twice this morning.  Is this a graphics card issue?  It's like all the graphics are smashed up together for a minute.

I had a similar issue with other games when my onboard graphics was overheating.

Is there a temperature monitor you can look at?

Usually available from the motherboard/graphics manufacturer if you don't have one.

Thanks. 

I had a look on Nvidia's website but their only temp. monitor hasn't been updated since 2007.  Can anyone recommend something for me?

It is possible the NVIDIA one will work just fine on your system.

Is your video card built into the motherboard or separate?

Speedfan is popular: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

It has the ability to modify various system settings as well. But resist the temptation until you fully understand what is going on. Only problem with Speedfan often cannot tell you which sensor is which if there are multiple sensors.
