I have installed Cisco VPN on a Windows 8 machine and get the error message 440 driver not installed. I have spent 3 or 4 hours trying to google all over the place to no effect. Cisco have not replied to my emails. I then tried to load Shrew VPN client and that hangs at about 80% through install. Has anybody else managed to load a VPN client on Win 8 equipment ?

i'm running sonicwall/cisco/f5 vpn clients on win7 virtual machines hosted inside of win8. I haven't tried directly on the win8 install though. Need help implementing Microsoft CRM? Give OA Systems a shout. Winners of CRM Solution of the Year at the 2010 Microsoft NZ Partner Awards

I'm running FortiClient VPN on my Windows 8 PC without any problems. It's an old version (v4.2) too cause I don't like the new v5 interface.

You have to edit some registry files and remove a bunch of random characters from some string which has the name of your network interface in it. I Googled for it and found the solution a few weeks back.

I Googled for it and found the solution a few weeks back. Yeah, I found that answer also but the Registry entry that ends in.... vpna... is not there in my machine.

Does Cisco state that they currently support VPN on Windows 8? I thought we were still waiting on an updated client for Win8....

Is it the Cisco anyconnect client or the other one (just VPN client)? I have the anyconnect client working fine...

man that Cisco VPN client... Grrrr! Why oh why can't they (MS, the firewall makers etc.) just get some kind of standard IPSEC implementation that works.

FortiClient is a different vendor's product and won't work with Cisco VPN end points. The bottom line here is that Cisco haven't released their compatible app yet, but it can't be far away.
