Just installed a fresh Windows Server 2012. Decided to do what some of you folks are saying. Hit Windows key and start typing. I wanted Windows Update.
Oh, no Windows Update results in the first listing. Why didn't they make the first results shown for ALL categories, filtering only when clicking on a specific category? Because some people will see that empty list and think there isn't a Windows Update in sight.
Anyway, I will dig deeper and click the category with 16 results and go deeper:
Oh, "Install Optional Updates" is there, "View Update History" is there and so on.
Of course just "Windows Update" is not there. It's nowhere. I know I'm picking now. But it's the small things. My parents-in-law can't find a button in the ribbon when I describe to them over then phone even when I have Logmein running and I can see the button and describe it. Let alone tell them to search for something that doesn't even show up in results.
Obviously running a server I know that "Install Optional Updates" will take me closer to where I want to be. But consumers? Better have those automatic Windows updates turned on folks.
