Further to my post a year ago (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumId=45&topicId=97637)...

Things have 'evolved' and now I'm trying to do exactly the same thing (sans pst files!) i.e. sync folders without involving cloud, between two computers running Win7Pro and Win8 (not RT) respectively. Further, I see Windows Live Mesh is about to die (apparently I'm one of only 25k people around the world using it...) within the next month.

Thanks in advance for thoughts on this.

Cubby will let you do this.

Thanks saw this while looking up the topic - hopefully despite only being in beta status currently it'll be around longer than Win Live Mesh

Anyway, mainly because it's still in beta, open to other suggestions

Doesn't Microsoft's own synctoy do this ?

I remember reading about it a while ago thinking it might be useful but haven't got around to using it yet.

Synctoy is good and keep things in sync - you can do it manually or via scheduled tasks. However... Echo doesn't work as intended and won't delete files/folders from left to right sides. The Synctoy application is not being maintained because it was a "side project".

The Windows Live Mesh will stop working soon, and its replacement SkyDrive syncs to the cloud but not between peers (a PC sync directly to another), which is what Live Mesh did well.

Cubby is the best bet at the moment, and LogMeIn is behind it so even though it's beta I think there's a good product there.

I also use Crashplan between network drives (as well as cloud) if that is an option
