hey there, i recenty put windows 7 on my pc as a dual boot with xp with the ultimate goal to move all my xp files to win 7 . i have been having one issue, that the sound keeps not working- i have re installed the sound drivers twice now, and re downed them from realtek with what looks to be the latest drivers- question is why does it keep happening and how can i get around this??

Download drivers from the manufacturer, not Realtek, and try again. they were the original divers i tried, from gigabyte- they are the same as the realtek drivers. sound is working now, but as soon as i shut down, same issue will arise

I guess your not running anything like HP power assistant ver over 2.0.36 seems to kill the audio if not produces annoying click sounds every 10 seconds.. fix is to roll back the application to older version or just get rid of it but maybe its something similar on your setup other soft you wouldnt expect messing the audio up.. who would think its was HP power control soft.

update.. hey guys, ive had massive issues with win 7 sound, now im close to resolving most- i have fixed the no sound in games- but that created another problem- now audio in media is dropping out- im fresh out of ideas , help please! MaYbe an obvious one but check out under control panel->sound devices. Check which output is active.. I had trouble with this when I switched to 7. There are 2 options..i think its default and active sound device .might explain iT..
