Topic # 114277 14-Feb-2013 13:56 Send private message

Am having problems with a newish Windows 7 computer. Has not had a Windows update since 11/01/13.
last update:
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2769369)

Installation date: ‎11/‎01/‎2013 8:57 a.m.

Have tried to update manually and get error code 80073EE2
Also have tried to install Adobe flash player and can't do that either. Not sure if related.
other 2 computers attached to same network update fine on Win XP pro.
This install is a small server/workstation with Microsoft SQL server running if that is applicable

Can't work out why no update.

Any help appreciated

Andrew

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-NZ/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80070002

"If you receive Windows Update error 80070002 while checking for updates, you need to remove the temporary update files that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. To remove the temporary files, stop the Windows Update service, delete the temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service, and then try to check for Windows updates again."

I've seen this error on many machines and the only fix that has worked for me is to open Windows Update, click on 'Change Settings' on the left and uncheck the box that says something along the lines of 'Get updates for other Microsoft products'
I haven't got one in front of me right now to check the exact wording sorry.

If you are looking for a quick fix and don't care about the details then the windows update troubleshooter download is usually good at that:

Ok tried the turn off update service (had to google how to do that) and then deleted updates in downloads then turned it back on.

Made no difference but after shop closed (as computer is a small server) I restarted the computer and voila the computer started to get updates again.

Thanks for the help - still not sure why it stopped in the first place
