Hi guys,

looking for a decent app to serve mainly MKV's and AVI's to my TV over DLNA.
I used to use serviio on Windows, which worked great, but the Mac build of it leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm wanting something pretty lightweight and preferably doesn't use space in my dock (though can have an icon in the top bar). This of course can be negotiable if the software is decent and works correctly.

HAd issues with Medialink (though could just be me)

Any suggestions would be grand!

THanks

I've got Playback running on an old Mac Mini and it does a good job of streaming to a Sony TV. However I haven't tried mkv streaming because the computer isn't quite good enough (it's reallllllly old). However, Playback does seem to support the feature, so it's definitely worth a look. I'm not sure about avi support though, sorry.

Thanks for the suggestions... just gave it a whirl now and unfortunately doesnt support MKV :( It has a converter built into it so it has to convert the file to mp4 before its streamed :(

I use Tivo with HNP at the moment until I upgrade my TV so will be interested to see what others use.

Plex is awesome at serving all media, the dnla works fine it's a bit basic but they seem to be constantly updating it. Free as well. Had it running on an older 2009 Mac mini with no issues
