Anyone else going to the Winterfest 2012 in Hamilton? I'll be the one with the VFFs. (Those weird toe shoe things as seen on xkcd)

Wife got me a couple of Three Boys Oyster Stouts for weekend sampling, I forgot how much I like this beer, especialy with a dozen of Bluffs finest. Also had a nice German beer who's name I must write down and post before the recycling man comes.

Just had a couple of Rayon Vert from Green Flash in the US of A. Now thats something different and bloody nice ... very hoppy and a little bit sour. Much better than a hop rocker!

Kaimai Pale Ale is a staple in the fridge at home for that first beer on a Friday (generally chased with a few Flying Fortresses and some Biltong)....

Have Mac's changed the pull tags on their bottles? I keep tearing out a V and leaving the cap on the bottle - quite frustrating. A fork through the plastic inner seal allows me to prise off for the prize. Is it just my exuberance ?

No it's not just you.  Same happens to me, although the plastic seal does seem to just lift off, no need for utensils.

Can you make dark beers in it as well? I see some guy just won gold for his Pilsner at a beer show using one of those.

It's not beer, but the Rekorderlig cider range is delicious. Moore Wilsons in Wellington has just started stocking them for a scratch under $5 each which is great value when they're over twice that in most bars/pubs/clubs.

I just discovered it in Queenstown last night. Very easy to drink. $15/bottle in the pub here but 2 bottles did 5 drinks!

Its nearly beer o'clock. Personally I have a couple of Macs Sassy Reds and some Chocolate Mooses (Meese? Mice? A moose and another moose?) in the fridge patiently waiting for me.

Dryjuly why?

Is this some sort of organised charity/fundraising or just a self imposed abstinence?

I saw the Hop Zombie in New World today but felt it was too pricey at $11 for a 500ml bottle.

Opted instead for a "Sir Walter" from the Wanaka Beerworks. I was a little disappointed with it to be honest, too frothy and too yeasty for my taste.
