garvani: My package has finally arrived at the warehouse. Geez this will be a close call for getting it before xmas!

The estimated arrival time was on the side of caution, my experience was arrival nearly a week earlier than their estimate

timmmay: Sure, youpost isn't super fast, but some of you guys need to chill a bit. If you want a super fast service, pay for a super fast service, otherwise stop your moaning unless they lose your package or don't meet their SLA.

+ 1. And right or wrong, I take some comfort from the fact that YouShop is part of NZ Post, which is owned by the NZ government.

But the US operation is probably outsourced, to whom we don't know.

Even though people say it's offering a service for shipping packages that would not be normally able to be shipped, Post should make sure that the service lives up to people's service expectations before they offer it under their name.

I think I saw that earlier in the thread. Posts needs to review the SLA's they have with them. It's clear they are not enhancing Post's reputation.

The biggest problem I had was the slow update of the site.

It seems that tracking is nzposts biggest weakness. It doesn't work for tracked parcel post, it doesn't work for international registered incoming stuff, and it was a massive fail on the youshop experience I had with it still showing as being on the way after I had the item from the post office. Nothing even to say it was awaiting collection - just had the card in my po box in the morning.

How long is it after you've paid that they're meant to send it? I paid for NZPost postage 3 days ago and it's still sitting on "ready to dispatch"

What is it that makes NZ post able to bring in a whole lot of parcels and have them processed individually for GST/Duty, whereas if I add things to a friends shipment I have to pay GST even tho my part is under the threshold?

If its just how they enter things into customs, what is stopping anyone with a decent rate with fedex, and a company with offices in both the US and NZ from doing the same thing?

It took about 36 and 48 hours between when my two packages arrived at the NZ Post warehouse earlier this week. Once I paid for it, it took about 36 hours for it to leave the warehouse. It should arrive in NZ in 5-7 days, and at my place a couple of days after that all going well.

If I ever need anything in a hurry I'll use a specialist firm, probably one of the ones mentioned in this thread. I need my package by mid Jan is all, so no real bother for me.

Each parcel is going to a unique individual?

I would like to share my experience using the Youshop service.

During the cyber Monday week I bought a 3TB USB 3.0 external hard drive from Amazon on 26 Nov
It was delivered on 6 Dec (US time so in NZ it was 7 Dec);
I got an email from Youshop confirming the arrival of the parcel on 7 Dec
I paid the freight charges right away (using the kiwiban code so got 15% off) and got another email right afterwards confirming payment complete
The next day I received another email from Youshop advising parcel on the way to NZ; expected delivery is around 19 Dec; finger crossed as probably a touch and go situation If I want to receive the parcel before Xmas...
So far pretty straight forward

One piece of information for anyone who might be interested in getting a Kindle Fire HD 8.9, today could be the day to get one as Amazon is offering a US$50 off the usual price for just one day!

So I got one!

I had the same thing, it took the better part of 3 business days, last week. So Maybe Tuesday evening US time?

Hmm, my package was delivered to the youshop on the _3rd of December_. I paid the shipping on it on the 6th and it's still showing as "Ready for dispatch". WTF.

Won't be using youshop again!
