I have heard that series X is a lot more like the earlier series in terms of the humour and atmosphere.

Not at all like Series 9/Back to Earth which was somehow very .. odd.

yes - thats what my sister has said - very similar but actors are just fatter with age.

FYI - I liked the series 9 / back to earth
must have been thick as took me a while to spot the bladerunner linkage with the origami

i tried, but i hate comedies with really intrusive laugh tracks, i know most tv comedies have them , but this one seemed worse than normal.

Red Dwarf, ahh great memories staying up late and watching that. Good to see it back again. :-)

I had some Red Dwarf DVDs with the laugh track removed and it was really weird to just have silence after a joke. The laughter does seem to have its place!

BTE had no laugh track.  Killed the atmosphere.

The Dave website only seems to hold the last episode screened, and I was preoccupied when the first three episodes aired, so missed out on the catch-up service. Fortunately, some one has kindly uploaded full episodes of the new season to a popular video hosting website, which I watched last week.

Ep 1 - brilliant, a real blast, back to the classic Dwarf of seasons 1-5.
Ep 2 - quite good, but not as good as ep 1. Still much better than most of the previous two seasons.
Ep 3 - awesome! Lots of fun, and another flash of the classic briliiance of the early seasons.

I too worried about the age and size of the actors, going by the pre-airing photos, but after a couple of minutes you don't really notice it, and it's just like nothing's changed.

Also - the laugh track. I agree with the comments that it's noticeable by its absence. I've never found laugh tracks to be intrusive, except where it's obviously forced and canned. Classic Red Dwarf was filmed in front of an audience and the laugh tracks captured live. Later seasons (7 onwards, I think) were filmed in advance and screened to audiences for the laugh track, which isn't the same. Season X is, I think, filmed with an audience, and the difference shows.

Can you tell me where you pre-ordered series ten please? I've found where I can get it overseas but I need region 4.

Thanks

I ordered this one but it seems that you're after a DVD, which may not be available in R4 for a while.

Ah right, thank you. Yes I'm after the DVD, I visited the Red Dwarf site and saw that it is available in Aussie on 12th December so maybe I need to wait until round about then...........not an easy thing to do lol

Did you find a copy in the end? I see that the UK DVD lists regions 2 and 4 on the back.
