Well, apparently Tongariro has erupted again. Anyone know of any good webcam feeds?

I popped up the the roof (7 floors up), but its a bit too hazy to see from here in Ham-town. If the sky to the South was a bit clearer, I could probably see the plume. I saw the one from the eruption back in '96-'97 whenever it was.

Geonet have two static cams, one pointed at the crater and one from a distance, http://geonet.org.nz/volcano/info/tongariro you switch between the views with the < > icons However it appears to have been a single "burp" eruption similar to August, and there is currently no new material being ejected,

Interesting... the 'experts' have been commenting latley that its neighbour would potentially blow (Ruapehu).

Was hoping someone would have a real-time stream somewhere. However, it seems that the size of the article on Stuff is probably larger than the actual eruption!

With the media blowing everything out of proportion, does anyone know how serious this actually is? I'm supposed to be going down there this weekend...

Mate check the roading situation and perhaps do take a look at the local newspapers in that area (if they are online). If you know anyone there then just get in touch ! You will note the advisory levels on the applcable websites for land and air travel.

Well, according to a civil defence email I just got (I work in government) GNS advises that it's technically over. Still, I have a few days for things to settle down/blow up :)

Im still amazed as to why GNS was looking at the other volcano and not this one. hahah yes you do have a few days to see which way this blows (pun intended). good luck

Flights from Auckland to Whakatane, Napier, Wanganui and Taupo have been cancelled in the last half hour. Everything else has been leaving on time.

Flew up past there well out to the west of Tongariro this afternoon, not much to see from a distance. Bit of a smoke cloud that's all.
