We were just sitting watching TV just before when the My Sky remote made a pop noise (it was on my wifes leg at the time and she felt the pop).

I opened the back hatch on the remote to find that one of the Sony AA-LR6 batteries had "exploded".

It looks like to bottom end (negative) had popped open (the ring off the bottom of this battery was no longer attached to the battery) and there were spots of acid over the of the remote control at the end where the battery "exploded".

I would have thought that these Sony Stamina Plus batteries should have been a decent quality, and shouldn't go doing something like this. They are still well before their shelf life - the packet they came from reads "Best Before 2016".


Has anyone else experienced this with AA batteries or their My Sky remote? (I'm note sure where the fault lies here, but more willing to lay it on the battery at the moment)
