District 9. I thought this was very well made. My wife was very surprised I took her to see this but she agreed that it was extremely well done. Heaps of splatter but not to gory. You could really feel the characters and I was squirming at a few scenes.

Also this movie has excellent surround sound effects.

District 9 saw it a couple of nights ago and i have to say that i was not expecting what was shown.
It is a Sci-fi Mockumentary that will make you feel very sorry to be human.
i have to confess i did shed a tear.

I have been catching up on movies I watched from a good number of years ago. I have recently watched:

The Phantasm Quadrilogy. The first was released in NZ around 1980 as 'The Never Dead" Great Sci-Fi/Horrors that make some more recent efforts seem ordinary, especially considering their age. And we have never seen the third & fourth installments in NZ before.

Also, Hellraiser has eight movies with only three? being shown in NZ previously. As well as From Beyond, based on HP Lovecrafts' novel & They Live. Also excellent watches.

Hey, it doesn't state in the header you have to have gone to the moviesTongue out

Just back from the cinemas... Watched District 9 - I give that 8/10. Quite good storyline actually. And the ending begs for a sequel.

Gi Joe - 6/10 - Fairly predictable storyline..... lot of the FX were great but some CGI was badly done. Funniest bit wasnt in the movie itself, but the reaction of a chick in theatre right at the end of the movie where theres a little "twist" I guess you could call it... she gasped when she figured something out and the whole theatre heard her and laughed - pity we all knew it was going to happen since 1/2 way through the movie :)

Really liked it, but the ending kinda sucked for me.

Just saw Flashbacks of a Fool, at Paramount. Good stuff. funny at moments, the 80s were groovy as I remember and sad in others.

Guns of Navarone (1961) - 8/10. Special effects pretty bad but waaayy better acting than you see in films these days.

Platoon (1986) - 9.5/10. my fav movie of all time

Wife was watching something from our DVD collection and when I came to the lounge was greeted with Love Actually. Very funny, always a good one.

Great flick. Bill Nighy never disappoints.
