Are we sitting on the edge of the end of "cheap" electronic Hardware?
Importers can probably wear a 10% rise in costs due to the dollar, but the 33% fall in kiwi in a year has got to be really hurting,
Has anyone seen any sign of vendors trying to up prices yet?, I know the most of the stock currently in the country should have been paid for before the current meltdown, but prices are gonna have to rise at some point if the NZ dollar remains at this level?
Our prices are rising.. ram, motherboards and funnily enough cases so far have jumped in price (for example our stock standard case was a $90 buy a couple of weeks ago is now $134).. we get our stock from BDT and ingram micro, so we have been passing the price increase onto the customer, you can only absorb so much.. If your looking at buying a pc then id be doing so fairly soon, it can only get worse.
A week ago it was 54 cents, now back near 59cents and looks like 5 day moving average is about to crossover from below the 20day moving average, so it doesnt look all bad, as US$ weakens too http://www.findata.co.nz/Markets/StockQuote/FOREX/NZDUSD.htm
Prices are rising in the IT channel Cant see $NZ getting back to 78c any time soon though
