So our contract is up for renewal and we have 27 connections using iPhones. Who to use? Roaming to Aus is needed and tethering for iPhones. We travel trhougout NZ so reception is important in rural areas.

Humm, With the $59 plans on 2degrees you get 210 Minutes + 100 bonus minutes + 150MB National 3G + 1GB Bonus National 3G + Free calling withing your 27 connections.

My vote goes for XT based upon your conditions. Coverage in rural areas is really good and the data speeds are great. With 27 phones, you should get hold on an account manager and see what sort of deal they can knock together for you. It is pretty competitive out there at the moment so you are looking to re-sign at a good time.

myopinion: Yep agree with the account manager thing I just throught it would be interesting to get my fellow Geekzoners opinions as well :) In terms of price I wouldn’t even bother looking at the plans online for all three – 27 mobiles is probably a decent whack of revenue so would (should) get you vastly superior rates to online plans, I wouldn’t surprised though if 2Degrees are still the cheapest, but then it comes down to what is most important to you. IMO that level of business should also get you (more importantly IMO) a dedicated account manager and a level of integration with your other services (e.g. broadband connection)

myopinion: Account manager is a must. +1 from me on that as well. IME rural areas (NI) are more often than not better covered by XT than the others. I have both a VF and XT phone and normally the VF runs out while the XT still keeps on trucking. Not sure if there is much difference on roaming anymore, and I am sure you could gain a good deal given the custom you have to offer. Artificial intelligence is no match, for natural stupidity!

Coverage where you need it should be the determining factor. Xt will be better in some spots, VF (2Deg) in others. Your field staff should be able to give feedback on what works best in the areas they do. At the end of the day they'll probably offer pretty close deals and sweeteners to get your signature.... but its the delivery of the service thats most important to a business, and if theres no coverage where you need it on the network you choose its unlikely your 27phone contract will change that.

Interesting the comments re XT and Voda for coverage. As far as I have found comparing my Voda and mates XT, Voda is miles better in the South Island. Especially around Nelson - Chch and North Canterbury. I should not be here
