Is anyone attending any Occupy events around New Zealand, or planning to attend?

http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution

I've been watching the above livestream from the NYC Wall St event for the last couple of days (not constantly).
Some very inspiring stuff going on around the world.

The revolution is upon us.

We are the 99%.
We will not be ignored.

Is anyone able to explain, in a few succinct sentences, what the Occupy movement stands for?

Thanks,
Joseph

[Edit: This isn't directed at an individual - this is directed at the movement as a whole]

Sorry, but you will be ignored, especially in the current state with no clear goals, no clear leader and, sorry to say it, no real clue.

There's not much that annoys me more than people that'll go on and on about a problem, but don't want to offer even an attempt at what the solution might be.

So go and sit in front of a building, throw pies at some guy that has the same education as you but made a few better life choices, got a few more lucky breaks etc. If it makes you feel great then all well and good.

My life sure as hell isn't perfect either, but I'm not going to start blaming everyone else for my problems and choices in life.

I suppose the whole Occupy movement could be a little bit lacking in a well defined point of order, or lacking a real direction towards offering solutions to fix the issues that are being protested (and the issues are real, and they need to be addressed).

But I guess that's the whole reason why these Occupy movements have started in the first place. People have been frustrated by the state of things enough to at least try and get the message out there.

Indeed, the message does seem a bit vague, but at least it's a start.

America is really fk'd up right now financially and politically, over 10% unemployment massive government deficit... no sign of the needed changes....

Some protesters in NZ like to copy America even if it's not relevant.

[Youtube video quoted]

I see. They are complaining about EVERYTHING, from animals in cages to education debt, and foreclosure.

Do they want ALL laws rewritten? What do they want actually then?

As I said previously, they clearly are looking to overthrow the government. Lets not forget that Revolutions in the US are illegal....

I got the thought for the day via email today:

"10 years ago the USA had Steve Jobs, Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.

Now they have no Jobs, no Hope and no Cash!!"

Sorry about the off topic...

I attended the event in Wellington and it was a bit chaotic. The organisers didn't want to make specific plans as they wanted attendees to decide what they wanted to do, but the lack of leadership and a clear message was really counter productive. At one point we were told by one of the organisers that we should only march on the footpath because there had been no approval sought from the council or police for us to use or cross roadways, and then one minute later one of the other organisers started hysterically ranting about how we should "break the rules" because "civil disobedience is our right".

A lot of the people who got up and spoke had some good coherent ideas about what they were concerned about and what needs to be done to fix it, but a lot of people just got up and waffled.

It could have been a good event if it had some clear direction.
