Oh wow. I guess I should have delved into the fees before thinking this was a good deal. So, as soon as you activate the card you pay $1.95 a month if you don't have $500 on the card? Possibly $3.90 if you incur a monthly account inactivity fee as well? Hmmm... maybe not for me either. Come on AirNZ, you should have made this clearer in the original email.

Entry is complimentary if you fly enough and have Gold or Gold Elite status.

freitasm: At least QANTAS serves food (and not bad) in all trans-Tasman flights, without the whole "what ticket are you on" complication thing. Actually, the whole food thing on Air New Zealand is a bit strange. I think they could improve the taste of food served on board wherever it is available. Even in Business Premier the breads are not quite right, the muesli tastes terrible. We flew Samoa - Auckland - Wellington recently. We didn't pay extra so got a cup of tea Samoa - Auckland, and food and wine on the Auckland - Wellington leg (included in the price). Go figure. Will probably keep using my 1997-era blue Air NZ points card.

I got onto the Koru Club membership via BNZ Global Plus and was on Koru Monthly for a year ($45/month). When it's time to renew, I had to be on Yearly or Bi-yearly. I was lucky I don't have to pay the joining fee. Anyhow, it isn't really all that cheap - unless the company or organisation is sponsoring or paying at the corporate rate - otherwise, for an individual, it is as listed. And the corporate rate listed for one year is $455 per individual. I just received my card today and like you were surprised by these fees. I just called Onesmart - they say if you have a 0 balance in all accounts, you get charged one $1.95 inactivity fee, which is deducted from the balance when you do top up the NZ funds account. So won't get repeated fees accumulating.
