As the title says, basically we are after a boombox or similar for our outdoor wedding in February, where the venue doesn't provide an outdoor PA system but does provide power. We were after more of a ghetto blaster type device (IE 1 piece and not separate speakers) for the ease with which we can plug it in, and then unplug it and chuck it inside once we have finished.
Ideally it needs iphone/ipod input and produces a nice sound (ie not doof doof doof etc). It will get used at home afterwards so cost isnt really a huge factor.
any advice assistance would be appreciated.

cheers

We got a Logitech S315i from Dick Smith for Christmas. It's portable, iPod dockable (but also has aux) and produces a fairly good sound for a good price (was on special for $100).
We've used it a fair bit over the break.

Oh, boombox - missed that. It's not all that loud... ok for small crowd, not for a wedding haha.

Cheers, had a look at those in the store but did seem a ill small for what we wanted.
I have seen the Sony tank iPod thing which is basically a mini system that doesn't come apart, although I'm starting to think what I want may be a bit excessive for 3-4 songs whilst we walk up and then back down the aisle lol.

You need to be more specific about the area you want to cover.

Hiring a single speaker mini PA might be the way to go.

Or borrow a guitar amp from somewhere and just use line in + iPhone headphone jack.

After a bit of delving we have managed to get a PA with wireless mike and iPod connectivity for a steal.
Cheers

If you're getting a ghettoblaster make sure it has high speed dubbing and Dolby C

But most importantly you have to be able to carry it comfortably on one shoulder.

It is also strongly recommended to avoid having a hair cut within six months of using such a device.

I think the ghetto blaster with the lightshow in the speakers would be awesome for this purpose ;)
