lchiu7: I use both unblock and I am trialling a VPN (I have a one month trial of overplay). As noted transparent proxies kills port 80 access but for devices it's fine. The vpn overcomes that. But I am trialling the VPN only because there are times I want to view Hulu content on my browser. That by rights should not work at all with the transparent proxy but it actually works sporadically. When it fails the message is not a geo restriction message but an apology that the content is currently not available. Also when the viewing does work, the ads sometimes don't play and I get a message about the ad could not be displayed. With the VPN all this goes away but I haven't done enough research to determine if the VPN is slower than unblock. But one thing the VPN offers is mobility. I have been able to install the VPN on my Galaxy Nexus and watch Netflix on the road over the 2D 3G network. That is actually quite usable. I haven't worked out how much data is consumed watching a 45 minute TV show yet but ICS does have some counters that give some data. When the ad doesn't play, try turning off your ad block if you have it. Hulu should work then Apple: Have it their way Android: Have it your way

I have to agree, that netflix feels like a much better value with their content. Biggest plus with netflix is no commercials. On a related note, I've been using strongVPN and it's cheap and reliable. It also works perfectly from iPhone/iPad.

I saw this comment in a slashdot thread about VPNs: I have lived in Europe for about as long as Hulu has existed and have found them to be incredibly aggressive at blocking free and pay-for proxies/VPNs. I tried all sorts different services and eventually each was blocked by Hulu, usually within 3-6 months. Still working perfectly with Astril VPN. That said. Hulu dont accept NZ credit cards. And its difficult to register a valid account. So they are definitely aggressive in that department. Netflix its pretty straight forward. ANd they even accept NZ Credit cards. Offense can never be given, only taken ...

Soo, I want to view netflix on my PS3, I found this link which is a guide for setting up such services but not for PS3 and it also rules out my ISP for using a DNS service (telstraclear) Is there a better guide out there? So far i understand I need a US PS3 account, a method for pretending to be in the US and a credit card to sign up for Netflix. Is it possbile on Telstraclear + PS3? PS3 Trophies

It works on Telstraclear and there is information on this thread describing how to do it. System One: Popcorn Hour A200, PS3 (US 60G) dead and now replaced with a PS3 SuperSlim, NPVR running on Sempron 3000 (XP), Sony BDP-S390 BD player, Logitech Revue, Pioneer AVR, JVC 56" D-ILA 720P RP TV System Two: Popcorn Hour A110 , Oppo BDP-80 BluRay Player with hardware mode to be region free, Vivitek HD1080P 1080P DLP projector with 100" screen. If the issue is transparent proxies I think you will be fine using a PS3. Only seems to be a problem when using port 80. To setup netflix on your PS3 is not a drama. You just need to create a US PSN account one off to install Netflix. Once installed it should be available on all your other profiles. Netflix works fine with NZ credit card so you should have no worries there.

Thanks Buzz, Signed up with unblock-us 1 week trial Signed into US PS3 account (had one from ages ago to get better PSN store content) Changed PS3 DNS settings to unblock-us DNS Downloaded Netflix app (link from unblock-us to do this) Signed up for 1 month trial The missus is now wasting away our monthly bandwidth on tv shows she has probably seen! It was so easy it feels more illegal than torrenting the tv eps/movies etc Hopefully either quickflix gets better or netflix comes to NZ PS3 Trophies

Anybody having problems with Netflix today using TCL and unblock-us? Netflix is complaining that the service has not come to this part of the world. Hi all i have been using Netflix for a while here in NZ and also wanted to explore Hulu Plus and Vudu but i didn't want to go through the process of using a Pre Paid card type system or any other long winded means. So after experimenting for a while i have found a solution that works. I went and organised an ANZ Visa Debit Card and I can Confirm Hulu Plus works and Vudu using this so enjoy. Other sites may also work but i haven't had time to try yet.
