About time, Google seems to have updated NZ with new high-res Streetview imagery! Imagery is dated about Nov2009-Feb2010 ish About time. I wonder if whoever was uploading the imagery here back to Google kept going over their Cap and being reduced to dialup speed. The imagery is 2 years old now!

Most of Whakatane is now done. It's been maybe 3 years since I saw the car go past so it certainly took a while! Edit: My place is lacking the UHF aerial but has the "new" garage doors, which would put it in the 2008-10 timeframe. Edit Edit: It's late 2009, September/October.

Just checked our area. Has been updated. Funny to see my work vehicle both at home & at work. The car has been long written off. Over a year ago.

The Month/Year of the imagery is printed down the bottom right in small print. Undocumented feature -> press '3' to see imagery in anaglyph 3D!

Must be only in certain areas? 3 does nothing for me. My street isn't covered by streetview at all, and the ones around it are still 2008 images. --- James Sleeman My hobby - listing small amounts of interesting/useful hobby electronic components hardware and stuff on Trademe for cheap, all good geek stuff for the "maker" revolution ;-) Tip for Trademe addicts: install an addon for your browser to get thumbs for all listings.

Can sort of see my house now, a few trees have been cut down. They've added the large areas of Titahi Bay they didn't have before too. Quite strange how they missed large urban areas, but traversed long rural roads before.

They have my house on there (albeit quite old imagery) and I basically live in the middle of nowhere but they didn't even have use to have half the roads in town. Now I see they basically have covered the whole country. bfginger: Is it not possible to see historical imagery on street view like it is on the general view? I don't think this is possible. Also, the 3D imagery did work for me. The imagery from around my house is saying February 2010 as the date when it was taken. i find it slightly weird though that it took them this long to put the imagery up considering that they took it themselves and theoretically there should be no reason to have more than a months worth of delay in putting it up.

@codyc1515 My speculation for the time it took to update the images is that the photos got caught up with the whole oops-we-got-your-data-as-well-as-your-ssid brouhaha that was going on. That only fairly recently got sorted out.

Also think about the processing required to actually align the images, etc. I notice that my house is fairly distorted as well as some of the hills surrounding it. My question is though is why do they really need this....?

Cool, finally we are there, and nice HiRes pics too. I notice that all car License plates are blurred out. Hope they had software to do that horrible job.
