I'd like to offer my thoughts to those who are interested...

These days I just dont have the time to hack around and I like things to work. Quickflix works. I've been starved of good streaming services since I moved back home from the UK. When Quickflix was released I signed up straight away to check it out.

I love the app integration on my Bravia. It works flawlessly for non PPV. So easy to start movies. I've had no problems with stuttering etc, so I conclude this is ISP or connection related where others have complained. Video quality is sufficient (think 700mb AVI) and some HD content is available.

The biggest complaint everyone agrees on is the content library is tiny at launch and is largely old. A quick look at quickflix.com.au shows you what we are missing out on. There is some current content on their PPV list but this can only be accessed via the web interface right now, not the Bravia integration. Its a pain busting the HDMI cable out and hooking the laptop up, call me lazy but thats why I bought an Internet TV.

Verdict so far - good platform, content needs improvement, PPV access needs to be added to the Bravia app. I will see how it goes for a couple of months, $10 - $17 a month is nothing really.

We don't currently have Sky where we are renting, but we will be getting it in a couple of months when we move into our new house we are building, so we may get rid of Quickflix then if the content hasn't started improving as promised, but I'm happy with it right now.

Just received:

Quickflix Limited ASX: QFX (Quickflix) today announced that it has entered a content licensing agreement with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, ITV Studios' internationaldistribution business. The agreement spans Australia and New Zealand and adds to Quickflix’s expanding range of premium British drama television series. cool.  wonder how long it will take to get the stuff into the library.

Hornblower was a great series, wouldn't mind seeing that again.

So, will Quickflix start showing programmes that our current content overlords have deemed unprofitable to bring in, or are playing months behind schedules? This seems to be mostly a problem with BBC and other UK material - e.g. the series Misfits is played on Four an entire series behind the UK, and another excellent series called The Fades has never been seen in NZ at all.

I think it's more to do with the NZ network.  Prime seems to show British TV programs quite quickly but their US offering are months/ years behind..

Still nothing on Quickflix to make me sign up  especially with the limited hardware support..

Guess it would be a set top box or support for my Panasonic BD player  DMP-BD75GN-K.  Not upgrading my Sony TV  or buys games consoles..  Vintage movies would be OK  and hopefully some modern ones  would come along as well.  As for TV.  I'm not holding my breath.

My minimum requirement is Windows MediaCenter integration.  I haven't seen evidence of this (correct me if I'm wrong please!).  I've asked on Twitter if they'll support it, haven't heard as yet.  I also don't like the theme in this thread around the poorer quality of the Silverlight application over the native Bravia/PS3 apps.  Why the difference?

Except for telcos and some software/hardware companies, I hardly see service companies actually answering questions on Twitter...

Seems to be the case, though I've found the banks pretty good too.  Begs the question why bother having a twitter account!

From a TV3 report: "Support will be added for the iPhone and iPad in May, and then TVs from the likes of Panasonic and Samsung "in the coming months", with additional devices planned to be added over time after that".

They'll be dead in the water without expanding the device range, so it's looking good.
