So is anyone else considering keeping this service for another month? I am not sure I will given the email I just received outlining 'awesome movies' just released. They appear to be similar to movies you find in the bargain bins at the warehouse.

I am gonna keep it going for a while to come as it will get better. Like new tv shows I watch I will give them 3 months (TV shows I give three episodes to capture me) if by then still only average then I will probably save my $$$ especially since my ISP is still only considering it for free traffic.

Yes I will definitely keep. After all it is only $10 and there are a good few items on there that I had not seen before.
With the news that ITV and SOHO TV will eventually arrive I am happy to wait

That is largely true, however even if that is the only stuff they update, it is still worth keeping IMO.

I like watching non-new release movies, and even in the bargain bin they are typically $5-10+ each, and with Quickflix I only need to pay $10 (17 soon) per month to watch as much as I like.

So far I’ve probably watched 15 older movies I had never seen before (and about 5 that I have seen before, but enjoyed rewatching), and 2 full TV series I had never watched since it launched, so I have easily got my money's worth

Plus there is the added convenience factor of my wife saying “shall we watch a movie tonight?” and being able to find a movie and get it started in less time than it takes her to boil the kettle, instead of driving down to the video shop, or buying a movie on DVD in advance.

Yeah have to agree with nonprayingmantis there. It's not always about the new releases dependant on your situation there's old movies you may want to introduce your kids too or a partner that may not have seen something you've talked about but not got round to renting yadda yadda.

For a low price even in it's current state it's worth keeping for a while and we all know that over time the catalogue will most definitely increase as well as the options for how you watch too.

there are a few movies that aren't all that old too.

I count 6 from 2011, aroudn 15 from 2010 in the watch now section, about 15 from 2011 in the PPV section.

I watched Spartacus and Ben-Hur back to back last weekend.   Bit of a marathon there!

+1
At my local DVD shop I can rent 5 not-new-release DVDs for a week for $10. With Quickflix for the same amount, I can watch as many as I feel like from their collection in a month. Sure, its not Netflix, but the collection is growing, and at some point Sky's lock-in of HBO content will run out, then it'll be an even better prospect.
Now the long, wet, winter weekends are coming up, being able to pick a movie from the comfort of my couch is rather attractive.

BTW, has anyone else notice that Tivo's Caspa has actually had a bit of new content appear? Last night the Now Playing menu was advertising that Thatcher movie with Streep in it.

I saw Quadrophenia was on the recently added thingy the other day too so I'm gonna watch that and also though about watching Spartacus (and maybe now Ben Hur and yes definitely a marathon to watch back to back).

Also started watching the Dr Who stuff through there and now have gone and gotten the lot to watch at home at a more leisurely pace. My 7 year old is loving it (except the episode with Jack Harkness in it and the kids in the Gas Masks) he even just bought a Dr Who Fleece blanket with his pocket money.

Too many people try to have places like Quickflix and Netflix as possible replacements for torrents or services that have things like the latest tv shows available straight after airing but I don't look at them this way more of a video store at your fingertips and for that I'm more than happy to pay a fee to show support and help the company grow into what we all see as a great alternative to the Sky monopoly and or breaking the law by getting these illegally.

a few more films added again - I'm liking these weekly updates.

looks like total is now around 440 (from memory they launche dwith around 360-370?). New films this time that I can see include A Few Good Men (You cant handle the truth!), Notting hill (one for the wife) and Bourne Identity (sweet action film)

Obviously not really new new stuff, but good quality movies

Well that may now be enough to make me re-signup for Xbox live gold.  As long the "series" selection is comparable to the Series available on Fatso.co.nz
