Syncing songs (for offline playback) to my iPhone 4s seems to take a while.

around 15mins for one album. That cant be right.

I've got a good 20Mbit connection and phone is right beside the wifi base.

Same speeds here.  I have already cancelled my premium subscription.  Just don't see the point.

So who is using what as far as subscriptions go? I am using the free version and find that adequate, I have my computer connected to my receiver and the sound is pretty good. One thing I did do, but not 100% sure if it makes a difference, is when I had a 2 day trial of premium, I changed sound quality from 96kbps to 160kbps (this was done on my  android tablet), whether that affects sound quality globally I don't know, but am happy with sound, and not finding the ads too intrusive.  It is also great being able to find music that I listened to years ago.

What am I doing wrong ?

Ive signed up with my facebook account and am trying to get the 30 day trial. It gives me the option to sign up either with a CC or Paypal and Ive tried both, repeatedly, since last week without success.

Paypal tells me my CC is registered to a different country than Im trying to sign up for and both NZ CC's I have are just declined.

Spotify "Premium sounds better" according to their 30-day free trial web page. I think there is still room for improvement in the sound quality compared to for example Pandora Internet Radio in the US.

Perhaps the better sound occurs after one pays a subscription. At least you can download songs to your PC or mobile. I wonder once the free trial ends what the sound quality will be like? Still, it's free - that's good!

I think its a free trial that automatically turns into a subscription unless you cancel it, so they need your credit card!

What is your default currency for Paypal? Could be US? If so try changing to NZ.

I liked the idea behind spotify, I have never been one to pay for my music - have downloaded it illegally in the past but generally just listen to the radio or grooveshark.

Downloaded the app's on both pc and my GS2 and downloaded some songs, app's, and lists.
I made most of it available offline for both my pc and phone.

sometime later I checked my bandwidth monitor and noticed spotify was uploading quite a lot, didn't realise that it would upload all the music I had just downloaded.

Found the option to stop publishing by default.
Applied this manually to all the lists I had as it continued to do so even after changing the settings.

Added some new lists and again they started to publish despite changing the setting earlier.

Syncing to my phone (making available offline) was painfully slow, downloading at maybe 15KB/s. Other apps on my phone are not limited to this speed.

Listened to my phone for a couple of days at work, enjoyed having music i wouldn't usually listen to thanks to other peoples lists etc but had a few issues with the app.
It doesnt seem to pause or stop the music when the headphones are pulled out or the bluetooth connection disabled so my phone was playing music to no one for a good couple of hours.
The button on the headphones would pause and play songs but holding to skip didnt work - extremely annoying.

The next day I went to use it as usual and all my music was not available offline!!

When I got home i fired up the PC app and it had lost all my music - may have said something about the database being corrupt and mentioned that it may be due to a virus!! (cant believe it actually said that?!)

Anyway, some music is back but I am uninstalling both app's and cancelling my subscription.

I didn't mind paying the $12.99 per month, I actually felt good about it - giving back to the artists etc.
but the app's just aren't up to scratch for me.

I don't understand this. I signed up both on my Android tablet and computer and neither time did I have to enter a credit card. I also created a dummy Facebook account to get over that requirement.

Found some interesting music on it.

mattRSK: It asks for my CC details when I try to sign up for the free trial. I can use the free version because all that needed was my Facebook details, but if I want the free trial of Premium it want the CC details.

Glengus: Yes its a BNZ Visa. But Ive also tried with a Kiwibank Mastercard and thats always declined too.

myopinion: My primary currency was set to GBP (I buy plenty from ebay.co.uk) so I changed it to NZD but no dice. As for the VPN, thats something I hadnt thought about. One of the machines is set up with unblockus but the laptop Im on now isnt on anything.
