A few times I've seen presenters on TV1 and TV3 interacting with a large flat panel by touching it to bring up different graphics - election results etc Are they actually using a touch screen or is someone off camera mimicking their touches with a mouse/keyboard?

It's an actual touch screen - built by Perceptive Pixel. They demoed it at TechEd this year - it's about $100K to purchase one.

We've got a similar, albeit not quite as flash, unit in the office here. It's pretty cool. Ours is only about the size of a 46" screen, probably not as big as what they have. It's a "SmartBoard" which as well as supporting basic touch-sensitivity for interaction, also has coloured pens that you can "draw" onto the screen with. These guys have them - not sure on pricing but they'd be well south of $100k if you didn't need a unit quite as pretty as the ones on TV. http://www.videopro.co.nz/products/specialised-education/smart-board.html "You are" = "You're" - Not "Your". There is an NZ designed option as well [url]http://www.nextwindow.com/products/2700.html[url=] These actually use cameras mounted in a couple of corners of the overlay frame, I believe its the same technology thats used on HP TouchSmart (and other) All-in-one Pc's. They're easy to use as completely self contained electronically and simply plug in and mimic a mouse.

Panasonic do them also. I was talking with a Panasonic commercial guy, he says TV3 have one of theirs.

They're called Panaboards (well, some are at least). We've got some of those in the Auckland office, nigh identical in usage to the SmartBoards. They seem like good units. Some models require projectors rather than being actual big TV screens though. They're projector screens with resistive touch panels strapped to them. "You are" = "You're" - Not "Your". "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There". You probably mean "lose" not "loose". There's no such word as "Alot". On the internet, wasting time, since '89.
