I've been with ThinAir for many years and the customer service was pretty bad as it grew.  It was sold a few months ago and the previous owner left the company in a bad way.  Evidently he hadn't reconciled any banking for several months and there are a lot of accounts they can't find payments for because no one put any reference numbers in.

On the first of the month my internet and VOIP stopped working.  I sent an email to the owner and he said he would send out their technician.  That was 7 days ago.  With a company the size of Thinair in the PN/Manawatu area, there is only one technician?

Anywho, I need to find someone new and affordable.  Can anyone help?

My parents live there and are with inspire. http://www.inspire.net.nz/

Where abouts in Palmy are you? In the city? or somewhere that ADSL is not available? A lot of Adam's customers are/were in town and these days you can get a cheaper connection with more data from other providers. I reccommend Snap for your internet and using Xnet or 2Talk for VoIP. If you aren't so technically minded then Xnet is a good option as minimal set up is required and they do the rest. The price difference is only a couple of dollars between Xnet and 2Talk.

I'm in Palmy and am very happy with the service from Snap. Most of Palmy now has UFB so if you are in one of the UFB areas, consider the Snap UFB plan. VOIP is included with this.
Snaps' support is excellent and prices are very competitive.

Just out of curiousity - Elpie: have you got UFB installed in Palmy through Snap? UFB is schedueld for our street in September, and I'm looking to learn about some local experiences with both UFB and Snap...

Fibre hasn't been laid in my area yet but I'll keep it in mind. :)

No, I haven't got UFB installed. I was keen to get it as soon as it was available but I've been put off by the contract terms. With a move being planned it doesn't make sense to sign up for a 12-month contract that I know will have to be broken.

The contracts are per address, but they are not able to be changed to a new owner. With luck, I won't be at my address for too much longer.
