Topic # 107389 10-Aug-2012 16:22 Send private message

Hi Geekzoner's,

Following on from: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=96226 I thought I'd run a competition and do a free Master Splitter install, so here we go.

Need to Know
- this competition is only for Auckland, Waikato, Rotorua urban and Tauranga urban
- one entry per Geekzone member
- prize is transferable - i.e. you can enter on behalf of family or friend who is in need of better broadband
- this splitter is for fixedline DSL broadband only

How to Enter
- reply to this topic with your current DSL modem line stats (not a speedtest), i.e. sync speed down/up, line attenuation etc. Ask if you need help finding this info.
- if you are entering on behalf of someone else, then make sure you post their stats, not yours
- also if you haven't already, have a skim through the above topic

Other Terms Conditions etc
- Geekzone is not responsible for this competition, they have allowed me to post this
- Remember, I can only do this install in Auckland, Waikato, Rotorua & Tauranga areas
- I have the right to abandon install; this maybe due to health and safety, difficult access etc. All effort will of course be made to avoid this, but should this happen, prize will be redrawn.
- I have the right to take and post photos of the install work.

The Install
- Master xDSL Splitter
- PDL wall socket
- VoIP capable
- New cable as needed
- Labour, travel etc all covered.

The Draw
- Entries close Tuesday 21st August at 9am
- Entries will be based on your line stats (do not make them up!)
  -- 10Mbps or higher = 1 entry
  -- 5-10Mbps = 2 entries
  -- less than 5Mbps = 3 entries
- Winner will be informed by PM with a request of contact details
- Best efforts to do install within two weeks of prize draw.

Cheers
Fraser

Edit: have now included Rotorua & Tauranga urban areas too :)

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

a master filter, or a high quality adsl router (dont think the dynalink qualifies) would be my last options to increase speed... no fibre, adsl2+ speeds or vdsl coming any time soon for me.  i'm on the edge of exchange coverage and no date set for UFB

I'm not sure if there is any hope for me to be honest. From my own brief research I'm right on the edge of an Exchange that has no foreseeable upgrades coming. On weeknights I have almost given up, I have a 50:50 success rate with loading webpages most nights and if someone in the house is downloading no-one else can access the net.

Currently running a Linksys WAG200G so there may be improvement with a better quality device.

Sorry for the off-topic, but BronxNZ, upgrade the firmware on your WAG200G. I was also limited to 7616, but upgrading the firmware to 1.01.09 brought me up much higher.

Great idea for a comp. I am in Rotorua, so can't enter this one.

Edit: found my post on this, and it may not be the same issue you have. My top speed was 7547

Thanks for the suggestion GregV, but unfortunately I'm already on the latest firmware and believe it's more of a location issue.

Now, back to the competition.

Ah, go ahead and enter. Happy to include Rotorua & Tauranga areas too if within 10-15min drive of main centre.
