Topic # 50794 25-Nov-2009 20:24 Send private message

I have read unconfirmed forum reports that there may be an International issue from 7:57pm impacting High latency to International for Xnet, Orcon and Slingshot.

At this stage I cannot see that this is impacting Telecom NZ nor Telecom
International as far as we can see.

The link between UUNet and Vocus is extremely congested, so may be there that this issue lies.

I have notified Orcon of what I was aware of.

I will update here if I hear anything new.

ANC Sydney went down, causing traffic to probably re-route via LA.
I understand this impacted ISPs that buy their Bandwidth from ANC (Asia Net Com) only.

Orcon, Slingshot / Callplus and Xnet.

May be resolved now?

What ping times were you expecting have you got a SLA agreement with your ISP on ping times?

I think he was expecting his standard ping times regardless of any such agreement with his ISP (which he pointed out in his original post above to be around 60-100ms).

You must pay a lot for that then! Have you got your own VLAN?

If you have a SLA with your provider on ping times I would speaking to them and advising them they are breaching the agreement
