Nope, problem still remains unfortunatley.
From the looks of things, there is nothing I can do about it, other than buying new hardware or getting a different type of internet connection. I would like Telstra Cable, but I'm in Auckland.
I just hope when ADSL2+ comes out, it uses PPPoE so that this will work properly.
I can access the internet, send email etc, but azureus doesn't work properly, and nor do some games. I've also found port forwarding on the dlink doesn't work.
Oh the joys of internet in New Zealand.

Your not alone with the Dlink problems, believe me ! if the problem is poor connection tracking code or a lack of RAM im not sure, but most will drop connections when >1000 connections are made, you can probably understand how this would affect bittorrent and online games. I can understand why you would want to use bridge mode!

ADSL2 will more than likely use PPPoA because ATM is used on the backhaul, unless our telcos get with the times and buy ethernet-based DSLAMs. still, PPPoA doesn't pose problems for any self-respecting rmodem-router (ie not a Dlink) :-)

ADSL2+ could still be implemeted by other suppliers using PPPoE, just Telecoms wont be as Barf has mentioned.

Telstra Clear are using PPPoE on their DSL network currently and AFAIK are using to be using this going forward.

I think the lesson here is research before you buy and buy quality products. It's all very well to say well it should do this and that but you get what you pay for most of the time.

There is no reason that any isp cant route you a subnet of real ip addresses to use on the inside of the internet router removing the need for nat on that router. The only reason they dont is so they can justify the huge price increse to there frame and fiber based plans.

Oh right, and here I was thinking that the price increase was because these services actually cost more to implement and supply, what with the civils and the comitted information rates and all. :)

Most ISP's will offer to route you a subnet, but you will have to pay for it and you will also have to justify their usage. IP address space isnt free and ISPs have to justify to APNIC or whomever the regional authority is that they are using them in an suitable way.
