Hello all,

This is my first post and to be honest I only skim read the FUG... I had a telecom salesperson come and offer me a 2 month trial of 150gB for a respectable price of $99 per month.

This was quite tempting, but I was persuaded to reconsider by my flatmates.

Can anyone identify the pros and cons of such a trial offer?

For more info. I'm currently with Vodafone ultimate 80gB per month for a promotional 12 month term of $95p/m With mySky HDi for free.<br><br>For even more info. I'm in Whangarei

As above standard price for 12 month contract. Does not include smart phone services, wiring maintenance etc

Wow, for over 15k posts I'd expect a more helpful reply (albeit quick, thank you)
$99 for 150gB is not the standard price, especially for Whangarei.

According to the website:

150gB = $113*
*= add $10 for non Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch.

If I'm mistaken, can someone direct me with a url.

The $113 refers to the 150GB plan that comes with unlimited national calling.

$99 is the standard price for 150GB with only local calling.

It's not really a 'trial' offer, since you are (presumably) signing up for a 12 month contract. It's more like an incentive to get the sign up i.e. sign up for the 12 month contract and get your first 2 months free.

I think this has clarified for me.  As a far north resident, I think I'll wait until either Telecom or Vodafone offers a good fibre package.

have you had fibre laid on your street yet?

If not, you may be waiting some time. UFB rollout is going to take many years.

northpowerfibre.co.nz says Yes, we have UFB at my residence.
But its not true fibre to door, it's just utilizing the power lines. As a faster alternative to ye ol' underground copper

power lines? They just just the polls and ducting to put there fibre through. You should be able to get it and Orcon or Snap my have a better deal than the other two.
