Topic # 111158 25-Oct-2012 21:22 Send private message

Hi There!

I am considering the purchase of one of these mice, because I have the revolution Bluetooth and I HATE the fact that the middle mouse button, isn't a middle click but a switch between two scrolling types. I want to click links to open links in new tabs which I am unable to do with the Revolution.

Is someone who owns the performance mx able to confirm that the middle scroll/mouse click acts as an actual mouse button rather than a change from mechanical to smooth scrolling?

Thanks.

Most logitech mice I've looked at recently have the dual scroll functionality - and a button behind the wheel to use as a middle click...does your current revolution mouse have that?

Nope no button behind the scroll wheel sadly. I think in newer mice that button as best I can tell is used to switch scrolling mode and now the click on the scroll mouse is the traditional middle click.

Brilliant mouse. There is a separate switch behind the wheel to switch smooth scrolling on/off. The wheel switch itself acts as expected.

I have a M705 Marathon Mouse, and it has a separate button behind the scroll wheel that acts as a clutch (i.e. switches between ratcheted and free-wheeling scrolling).  The scroll wheel tilts side to side as well as being able to be clicked as a middle mouse button.

Edit - according to http://www.logitech.com/repository/1400/pdf/24426.1.0.pdf the Performance Mouse MX has the same setup as the M705.

I am not familiar with your mouse. Most mice function buttons can be repurposed using software.

...except some models of Logitech mice where the scroll wheel isn't a middle click button, but a clutch toggle switching between ratcheted and smooth scrolling.

Kevin, do you know if this is still the case with the performance MX?

According to the document I linked above, it has a separate clutch button and retains normal middle click functionality.

Ok now I need to find a really good keyboard. Any Recommendations? I like my G15 at home :)

Needs a display :)

Sorry Kevin I didn't see your edit with the link until after I'd posted.

I've had a Logitech K520 for some time and it's not bad.

Which of course lacks the screen

Yah I bit the bullet and ordered a K510 which has the screen. I'll see how that goes, I really like my G15v2 but I can't find it anymore.

G510 looks okay. G19 is a tad on the pricey side!

I'd really love a g19 :)

A supplier cut me a deal so I cancelled the G510 and got the G19!
