We have had almost a dozen calls from these guys, my wife just hangs up on them but if I answer then I'll play them along for awhile pretending to log into logmein until I have had enough then I tell them I do not have internet then they hang up.

Scumbags! There must be away of tracking these crooks???

Yes there is but without any legal power behind me its impossible for me personally to track them.

As the call HAS to come from somewhere you just track it back to the origin of the call. Yes some may come from hacked PABXes but the people making the calls/running the equipment must be someplace (I wonder how come the people are always have indian accents I have talked to).

I am with Carrier A
Go to Carrier A and Ask.. where did you get the call from and they say Carrier B
Go to Carrier B ... and just keep going.. maybe 5-6 (or more) Carriers back and you have found where its coming from. Pretty Simple.

But only the Police/DIA/other legal entity can do this and when the trace leaves NZ.. dealing with local laws in those other countries to get the information could be difficult.

Yes I would love it to stop.. I used to get them once a month.. now its a lot more..  Even telling/asking/swearing at them will not get you off their auto dialer. Every call to my phone line I will answer (as it might be important)

You may say.. its a small amount of calls coming into NZ.. but its not..

Yes Carriers in NZ do make money terminating these calls in NZ (Whoever they may be) and I wonder how much money they would loose if they didn't accept them.

I just got a call today as I was going out. I told her to wait a few minutes to turn the computer on, but I was actually getting the memory card and battery for the camera to film the call. She tried to get me to open the browser I think but the line was quite bad so I played dumb.

I eventually heard her say click start, but I said I was a mac user. She said hold on while she spoke with her manager, then I said that I'd be reporting her to the police because it was illegal blah blah blah then she hung up on me. I'll upload it to youtube shortly, but the video is quite big and our upload sucks so I'll post here when done

Hey I'm looking forward to hearing/seeing that Tardtasticx.

Perhaps we should start a thread for these vids. I'm so sick of them calling us we just hang up.

I shot video below last year of myself having a little fun with them.

We've had heaps of these calls, mostly pretending to be a company in Auckland.

They hung up last time when I asked for their phone number.

Next time I'll go along with it to get their website details and take a crack at bringing it down.

They probably don't have a website

Being on 2talk I checked my call records and the number came up as 6491863 not even a 7 digit number, thats if the first 3 digits are the country code and area code

Read the 4th post from the bottom. You are sent to logmein123, not logmein.

"Microsoft dumps partner"

"We were made aware of a matter involving one of the members of the Microsoft Partner Network acting in a manner that caused us to raise concerns about this member's business practices," a Microsoft spokesman said in a statement. "Following an investigation, the allegations were confirmed and we took action to terminate our relationship with the partner in question and revoke their Gold status."

Comantra's director Rajesh Bajaj said Microsoft's move was "not expected" and denied it was scamming users, saying online reports were the result of "negative marketing" from competitors.

They provide technical support. It looks like they decided to be "pro-active"...
