My mum who's 70 got the call I'd have loved to have been able to see the look on the mans face when she unceremoniously told him to F!!!! off ya damn Idiot she then hung up and hasn't had a problem since.. One of our franchise techs held one of these guys on the phone while he built a vm xp session, let the scammer take over his vm session, then proceeded to undo changes as the scammer tried to do things for the next 3 hours ... he even got the scammer to swear at him! LOL

My Dad just got a phonecall from "The Phone Company" saying that he had a virus on his Windows Computer. I am impressed with what he said and thought I will post it here. Basically he does run Windows 7 on his laptop, but knew straight away it was a scam. Them: "We are ringing on behalf of your phone company to say you have a virus on your Windows Computer so we can fix it" Dad: "Who's my Phone Company?" Them: "We can't release this information for confidential reasons, Could you please turn on your Windows Computer so we can fix it?" Dad: "I don't have a Windows Computer" Them: "YES YOU DO! Don't lie, we can see it on the logs" Dad: "I run Linux, I don't run Windows" Them: "Oh, we can't help with Linux Viruses" Hangs up call They then phoned a 2nd time and got my mum. Them: "We are phoning on behalf of your phone company to say you have a Windows Virus on your computer" Mum: "What's Windows? I have never heard of that before" Them: "It's what your computer runs, do you mind turning it on? We will help you through" Mum: "It runs Linux, I don't know how to turn it on" (Dad told her to say this) Them: Clunk Beep Beep Beep.... Like I say, I am very impressed with my parents, they are not the most PC Savvy people out there. I have logmein on their computer so I can help them out from here if needed. Dad picked up it was a scam and since I manage their PC Dad knew there would be no virus on it. These guys seem to get pissed off when they hear the word Linux since they know that the people are normally onto them, knowing full-well it's a scam. Heh... my parents havent had any calls yet but they know to just hang up or say "heres my sons number, hes a computer tech, he'll understand what youre trying to do" and wait for the scammer to hang up. QQ If only they had called me when I wasn't mid tv show I would have played them along. But yeah they run ~30min ago and as soon as I told them I was a 3yr CS Major they hung up. They should DIAF

hairy1: Yeah. Gutted! It would be great fun to get one of these calls..... Haha, I got like 3 of these calls. One my husband answered, and he just hung up on them - I was gutted. The first one I got, I made them hold for like 15min (they are ringing from int'l number).. while I fudged some story about my PC taking ages to boot .. then after I'd just got it booted, my "my dog ripped the power cord out" and I'd have to start again (left the phone in a back room while I did this). Unfortunately I had to go somewhere so I had to cut it short by telling them the police had been tracing calls received to me due to hoax calling.. then they hung up :( If they call again... I will try to waste as much time as possible -- if they are on the phone to me, then they can't annoy someone else. If I can figure a way to scambait them and get some money out of them I will... please feel free to fire ideas my way. Though I haven't had another call lately... Some friends in Dunedin are starting to get them though.

i got a call last night, managed to waste 30 mins of their time before they gave up my mum got one today number they called from was 00 25 3 8020308

Their CallerID is false. I've seen them change their callerid many times in the past. Their A Party is them calling from Djibouti now :-) I've complained in the past but no one seems to care to trace it up the path and see where is really comes from and get it stopped. Thanks

Just had a call from 91797, they called twice last week but either hung up or dropped the call in the transfer. Anyway having a wine, waiting for dinner to cook so played along. I was pretty dumb, kept getting his instructions wrong and turning off the PC (apparently) so we had to wait each time while it booted up ;) Put the speaker on the phone, god I wished I could record at home, family (adult) gathered round doubled up laughing (quietly) while we went through step by step and me repeating every instruction, wasting time, sounding dumb. Eventually 30 minutes later ,we got to their website www.impcremote.com (ps dont hit any of the buttons if you have a look, also ideas to report it?) he told me to click on the windows button which was an exe, and I was pretty much over it now as it was time to turn the spuds, and said, f#$k off c%#t that will download a virus and give me a virus which he initially denied but after repeated insults to his manhood and sexuality, he caved in and it was all on!! Most fun I have had on the phone for a long time, he called me a sisterf$$@@er and all sorts things that were pretty much just responses to my animal love suggestions (goats mainly) once the gender preferences had become stale. He said he was recording the call and was going to get the authorities onto me, knew my name and address,( yeah we are listed). It reminded me of this so I jumped onto the site and played it to him until he gave up, but he spent most of the track arguing with the voices. I was thinking of blocking the number, but its too much fun.
