can someone please help me fix my computer. It was infected by malware/virus. XP Search results windows kept on popping up. I already scanned it using malwarebytes and Search & Destroy. but those programs can't detect the culprit. Can someone please help? thanks in advance

Are you sure the keys in your keyboard are not sticking? The F keys for example? johnr: Boot into safe mode and then do a scan +1 Quite often malware can disable scanning software etc or just hide itself from the scan. Just fixed a PC for a local that was full of malware, MalwareBytes didnt see half of it until I performed a scan in safe mode. freitasm: Never, ever, download anything from CNET. I find that a bit harsh.... :) I download stuff from there every week.... I just avoid the ones that have their nasty downloader included. You guys are talking like John Doe on the street would be able/capable of discerning a download is wrapped with or without the CNET software. Every few months we read about CNET downloads being wrapped with installers that also install toolbars and other junk. If you feel safe, fine. But don't suggest others who can't/won't protect themselves ignore the advice. People already download too much crap. It's not like they have anything there that you can't get somewhere else - without their invasive rubbish.
